Q7 and SMC-F 80-200

Short walk with my new Q7 and the Pentax OEM adapter with SMC-F 80-200 lens. Lens stopped down to F8 shot at ISO 100 First a Limpkin then a small Blue Heron in mating plumage in a small canal. Shots processed in LR 5. I got about 25% keepers using peaking and a LCD eyepiece hood. This is a lens avail. on Ebay for around $50 or less and is quite sharp on my Q All shot between 400-900mm hand held

short walk?

This is what you saw in a short walk, in Michigan? Not your average views. I have the F 70-210 which is rated better and sharp and sturdy. That lens can be picked up cheap as well though I don't see much wrong with this.

Wow Hans those shots look great.
Q7 and that lens are a winning combo!
I'm amazed you can do this hand held, I'm way too shaky for that.

Thanks for the comments, as you guessed I am not currently in Michigan. The combo works nicely and the price of the Lens $20 for mine on Ebay make it a great value. It is as sharp as my SMC-M 135 f3.5 when zoomed at 80 - 135, looses a little at 200. The lens is light and has an internal zoom so it stays small and is easier to handle than my DAL 55-300 on a Q hand held

Super images, hnikesch. You are the king of hand holding long lenses on the Q. Thanks for the the zoom lens tip. What an affordable price.
thanks

I went out birding today using a Vivitar Kobori 28-200 - c1985 - and Q10 - and supposedly its not a bad lens.

I couldn't come anywhere close to yours hand-held at 200mm. Smears all over - even at 1/1000 hand held. How do you do it?

Is there that much of a difference between a Fotodiox MD adapter I used, and the $250 pentax K one?

For hand held shots yes, I believe the Pentax adapter does make a big difference, try the same lens with a tripod first. From what I understand the electronic shutter on the Q and Q7 takes 1/13 of a sec. to capture all the lines in an image even at 1/1000 sec. The camera captures the first line at 1/1000 sec then saves it, then captures the 2nd line and saves it the save takes the time the process takes 1/13 sec to capture the image. If something moves during the 1/13 exposure camera or subject the lines do not line up

With a shutter in the adapter the entire image is captured then saved

Remember I only get about 25% keepers hand held at 200mm
