Benefit of 08?

Hi.
Still contemplating the wide lens but not sure. I mostly want it for interiors of stately homes and museums etc.
Is the 23.5 to 17.5mm increase in focal length benefit (from the kit lens), worth the loss of almost 1 full stop which might be an issue indoors, even if it's generally fairly light.
Any users of the lens yet in the conditions have any real world advice?
Thanks
J

I have the 08 and if you're wanting to shoot indoors or architecture, you are sure to find that wider is a huge help. Yes it's slower, but when you need wide, it is what it is. Same as on apsc - usually the super wides are slower. Thing is, the shorter the focal length, often you can get away with lower shutter speeds especially w/ ibis.

The only alternative is to use the 03 and defish, or use the 02 and stitch. I'm very happy with the 08 and I'm looking forward to using it in similar areas you mention.

Ok, thanks. Good to hear.
Never thought about shorter focal lengths can get away with longer shutter speeds

Well I succumbed,
In the UK, it rapidly dropped from the 429 list to approx 360 in a lot of places, and I got an amazon damaged box one that arrived last night for 281.

Tested it, took a few pics, pixel peeked, fine, so no problems with it.
We live in the Lakes and are off to London tomorrow visiting friends for a week so it's arrival is timely.
although the weather arrival isn't :-( Lots of dark and rain. So not sure what I'll have to show next week...

thanks
Jeff
