The Q system needs to be better, not smaller.

Q can't beat an android 'camera phone' based system for better software.
So its got to beat it where it can.
Thats the physical interface (ie. more to a camera) and the lenses.

The Q can also try to take on a bigger sensor w/o sacrificing SR or lens comparability unless in crop mode.

.

Adopting / integrating the Android system to run a Q-style camera (just for the software and connectivity parts) would be interesting to contemplate though.

That's what Samsung is working very hard to do. They are big Android fans.

Actually a true statement unless Apple buys Pentax. Apple is not a big fan of partnership.

One person's definition of "better" is often another person's definition of "much worse." For just once it would be nice if someone could stay with a given form factor rather than "bloating" or "downsizing" it into something it was not intended to be. If you want a bigger camera than ask for that but leave the Q as it is. The only possible improvement I can see is to build a pancake prime...after the telephoto macro.

Yep - 2 native lenses (9mm and 9~27mm zoom vs. Q 8.5mm, 3.8~5.9mm, 5~15mm and 15~45mm + Toy lenses), NFC or Wi-Fi linking to a Smart device, adapter to use NX-M lenses, touch screen. Everything but the touch screen is available on Q7.

Doesn't mean Pentax should concede the market, or shouldn't take it a step further. A camera system with AndroidOS instead of an Android-linked camera.
