Anyone adding the new Pentax 1.4 converter to their Q system?

Thinking about replacing the Kenko 1.4X with the new Pentax teleconverter.Strange that I don't care so much for the Kenko/DA*300 combo on the DSLR, but like the combo on the Q. Maybe the Q only uses the very small and sharp center area, vs the much larger lower IQ area on the DSLR.
thanks

Hahahahahaha! Amazing, Barondla! I never even thought of that. Bigma * 1.4 * 5.5 = eleventy seven mm

Hi barondla,

I probably use TCs more than the great majority, since I'm a birder who chooses to limit my physically largest lenses to 300mm f2.8 class and use TCs to get reach beyond that. From what I've seen, the new 1.4x AW probably doesn't offer enough IQ improvement over the existing good 1.4x third party TCs (Tamron/Kenko, Sigma, and maybe Vivitar) to justify purchase. The main draws for the 1.4x AW is for the AW, SDM and the automatic conversion of FL (for SR) and aperture on DSLRs. With the Q, all of these are relevant since everything is fully manual with adapted lenses. Personally, I'm not in the market for one since my only SDM lens is the DA* 50-135, and I rarely use TCs with zooms on my DSLRs, usually because of either IQ or max aperture issues.

If anything, the benefit of the extender is using it with a DA*60-250 and putting a rainsleeve to cover part of the lens body back to the Q for protection - considering most rainsleeves aren't long enough to cover a bigma at full zoom.. Otherwise, I don't see it being more useful than other good TCs.

My LensCoat RainCoat had no problem to cover my 150-500, it was almost too big. Just sayin'.

My rainsleeve was too small. But I do suppose if you own a bigma, you should get a proper rainsleeve!
