Is the 01 worth it if you have the 02?

My camera came with the 02 5mm-15mm and I always see everyone shooting with the 01. It looks awesome because it has the F1.9 factor, but is it worth the money if you already have the 02?

I rarely use the 02 after obtaining 01 except for time when I just need that slightly wider angle. However, with Q7, 01 is wide enough that I never use the 02 any more. It's just much less bulky and image quality is better.

The 01 is a very nice lens for your Q, with better image quality than the 02 because it is a prime lens.
If you can get one and it is affordable I would not pass it up.

Do you ever see them used? I have only seen them new and the cheapest was around 180. I just bought the fisheye lens, but now I feel like I should have got the 01

Strange: my 02 is very good.

Mind you, my 01 is better, and my 06 is simply stellar.

I guess somebody had to get a bad one. My brother's is apparently so bass he actually texted me to see if it was possible to get a sharp image with his Q. The 02 is his only lens.

02 Quality Variable...?

My 02 appears to be one of the good ones.. Right up there close to the 06, and better than a lot of legacy glass...https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/136-pentax-q/256849-comparing-adapted-len...ml#post2771342 UV Filter plus aftermarket rectangular hood...

Perhaps there is a lot of sample variability? Or possibly worse, durability issues that impact performance with increasing use?

Another possibility is 02 lenses manufactured during the Hoya-Ricoh transition. Hoya could easily have cut down on QC while this was happening. My 02 shown above is on an original Q - with its box and paperwork marked HOYA, so hopefully a falloff on QC did not happen...

I have had two 02's and they were pretty much identical - both very good.
My first 06 on the other hand was hopeless at the long end unless it was stopped down to f/8. Its replacement is sharp from f/2.8.

So even in my limited experience, there is definitely substantial variation. Caveat emptor.

I also have 2 02's and both are very good so my 01 is seldom used

Thanks guys. I can't believe how many of you are active and actually respond! I'm on a car forum as well and no one ever replies to any questions people ask other than posting their stupid build threads about how they just bought the same part that everyone else already has.
Really great community and I'm very happy with the forum and the camera!

Thanks again

Well done! You won't regret it. Not that there is anything wrong with the 02.
