Monochrome, do you prefer The Q for the metal body or something else? I hope the metal body will return someday.
thanks

Hi Gang,

I've wanted a small changeable lens camera for years but was always priced out with the 4/3's. I'm no pro, just an enthusiastic amateur. My birthday is coming up so I thought I'd take another look and I discovered the Q series. Perfect!

I can buy a NIB used Q10 locally for $200. The Q7 from the store is $450 (Canadian). I'm leaning towards the Q10 then adding an additional lens but I wanted to see what the pro's here think.

And if somebody knows where to get a Q7 cheaper I'm all ears!

unfortunately you can't find the original Q, especially Q with 01 prime kit, because Q10 and Q7 has no 01 kit...

Most likely Pentax. Doubt the innerds are the exact same.
thanks

I bet the Q and Q10 share the same innards, just a different shell. And then as they developed the Q7, they needed to use the same hardpoints (button locations, display location, etc...) as the Q10 since they used the same shell. Thus, I'd bet the Q and Q7 can be Frankensteined.

Frankly I like the feel of the Q better than the Q7. That's a combination of size and scale, the metal body, the visual design of the camera (I'm one of those people who enjoy the design aesthetic of the camera I'm using in addition to the ergonomics and output) - and it's just so much fun to use the truly TINY Q versus the merely extremely small Q7. It's the whole package experience.

I will say I like the domed buttons of the Q7 and as long as you're using more polycarbonate you might as well use contrasting colors. It is really interesting how just that little bit more size tightens up a small camera pouch. With the Q I can take all my lenses. With the Q7 the 03 or 02 has to stay home.

I wouldn't be surprised if a premium Q7 with metal body and some software / firmware things from the K-3 appears unexpectedly.

Maybe a Q-too.

Q Can Do.

So, sharp21, how are you liking the Q10? Just ordered one myself, have to wait a couple of weeks for shipping.
