Thanks for the warnings about the tripod mount - I'll have a close look when it arrives to see if it can be made good. How can you select aperture on the DA lenses though? Is there an aperture ring on the adapter?
There is a ring that moves the aperture lever on the lens. It' doesn't have any markings and there are no click stops.

My adapter arrived yesterday

The first thing that struck me was that it was quite a heavy, solid feeling bit of kit. Maybe it's because of the cheap price and the warnings of the uselss tripod mount, but I wasn't realy expecting much. I must say I was pleasantly surprised and even the tripod mount feels quite substantial.

Here it is mating a Pentax 28-80 AF zoom (picked up very cheaply off eBay) to my Q

I like the look of the zoom sitting mounted to the Q, but I think it's going to take some practice to get the best from it. At the 80mm end of the zoom it's equivalent to about 440mm so it's difficult to hand hold it. I have a 70-300mm zoom that I use on my K-500 which at 300mm is equivalent to 450mm and that's a handful to use hand held (pardon the pun!) even though I find it easier to hold the DSLR steady. The other thing I've found is that manually focussing that lens on the Q is quite tricky too. As I said, I bought it cheaply on eBay specifically to use with the Q on the adapter because it has an aperture ring, but with teh benefit of hindsight I might have been better off getting a manual focus lens instead.

Any comments?

I think you just need to choose slightly better lenses
