Reading comments on the internet, the main criticisms are
Low res LCD
No fixed or removable EVF
No built-in wifi
No GPS
Obviosly meant as a retro model!

For me, the biggest issue is not knowing what it's made from.
Plastic... (the two knobs are aluminium however)
As per RICOH page
PENTAX - QS-1 Black

The color simulator is amusing:
PENTAX Q-S1 ???????????RICOH IMAGING

You can even see what it looks like on your girlfriend's hip.

While I won't be getting one, the black doesn't look too bad.

Playing with that simulator leads me to believe that as with the original Q, this version will again be available with the 01 Prime lens and this time it might be a colored lens barrel..

If you want to get an idea of how the new Q will feel with that knob on the right hand side, turn your existing Q upside down and hold it. It feels a bit weird. Definitely NOT to my liking.

Tried it and you are right.
Difference may be that the current position is too close to get a finger between it and the lens, so will need to imagine it being where the IR sensor currently sits.
I think if you can wrap a finger around it it might work better.
Take the lens off and use a body plug instead, then try it.

I wonder if that 'grip' is designed for a Japanese lady's small fingers?

I don't know I think I can get used of 'clamping' onto (more like resting above and below) the 'grip' with middle and ring finger instead of resting middle finger on top of it. I don't have to try to hold on to the camera as much trying to press that shutter button and end up causing rotational movement. I have average size hand, probably won't work with large hands period.

On another note, maybe we'll get a final original Q FW update .. ?

I have been wondering that myself. I'd certainly like to see a better implementation of focus peaking. If Pentax can use Sony sensors, why not use their focus peaking, too? The focus peaking on both of my NEX cameras is excellent.

Wonder how the grip will work with the oem Q-PK adapter? Is it better for hand holding? Can you even get your fingers in there with the fairly fat adapter. Hand holding is not ideal with previou Q models.
thanks

It also read like Pentax added a continuous AF during video though for some reason it won't work with the 06 tele zoom. Still, some sort of continuous AF would be welcome (hopefully for stills as well, hopefully in a firmware update for the Q7 as well.

I also read it like that but wasn't sure if it did or not
Whatever it is, Pentax have already marketed the improvements to this camera badly, it's very ambiguous as to what, if anything, is different to the Q7.
