Nice work there to stop down the lens. I've just bought a Pentax 110 system on eBay that comes with the 18mm, 24mm and 50mm lenses. I'd been following them for a few days and it looks like buying a system works out cheaper than buying the indiviual lenses, with the added bonus of having a very interesting classic litttle camera to add to the collection!

My Pentax 110 kit turned up earlier in the week and the adapter arrived today. Armed with some ring binder einforcement rings and a black marker pen I set about modifying them. I've posted the results in the adapted lenses thread, and here's a link - clicky (last post on page 55 and first two on page 56)

I hope you're as pleased with your little zoom as I am with my lenses.

I received my zoom a couple of days ago. It is sharp like the rest of them.

Well my lens arrived, but no adapter. Boo!

But I couldn't wait you see and I thought to myself, a small m42 extension tube might be pretty close..

It wasn't. It left me with a snazy macro setup tho Anyway initial shots are promising.

Focus turned out to be on the bottom left corner, I really wasn't trying to hard :P

And a crop of the out of focus center

I'm seeing texture in the paper at god knows what ISO the Q ended up selecting. This tells me this 20-40mm f2.8 should be good for a bit of detail yet.

And if you haven't seen this lens in the flesh, although they are presented as big by 110 lens standards, they are still small by every other standard.

Yes I ended up with two (Allah knows why) the smaller one is set at 40mm with the larger set at 20mm. Naturally on the Q I will be left with a fov of 110-220mm all at f2.8 :P

Eagerly awaiting the mount for some proper testing.

---------- Post added 08-19-14 at 09:54 PM ----------

I was curious to how similar this was physically to the 06.

BnH say the 06 is about 50mm X 56mm. Measuring this 110 20-40mm I get the following;

@ 40mm (closed)
45mm X 55mm

@ 20mm (extended)
65mm X 55mm

Keep in mind the Q to 110 mount looks to be a good.. actually let me look up the register difference.. From Camera Mounts Sorted by Register

Q = 9.2mm
110 = 27mm

So the mount better be a good 17.8mm

And adding that to the lens dimensions, by the time it's mounted on the Q you are left with;

@ 40mm (closed)
62.8mm X 55mm

@ 20mm (extended)
82.8mm X 55mm

Nice looking lens, and quite unusual in that pushing it forwards zooms out rather than zooming in. Among the 110 lenses it was also unusual in that it was made of metal rather than plastic (as was the 70mm lens) which, apparently, put extra stress on the mounting flanges due to the weight (in some cases of clumsy mounting/dismounting the flanges actually broke off).

Yes I'll see how it goes

And yes you get the feeling it was destined to be a proper lens for the 110 system. the 49mm filter thread harks to the then current M lenses that shared the same filter size...

You know how I said I had two, well one wasn't focusing right, so out comes the front element (just wasn't screwed down all the way) cleaning cleaning cleaning and hang on a second..

Woooo, what a Hottie. She's alright that Queen of ours. That's an Australian 5 dollar note if the shaft# didn't give it away :P

There is room to make it sharper yet with a homemade aperture to fit the rear, these were at f2.8.. actually that probably doesn't count since the front... no the measurement of the opening hasn't changed. f2.8.

Anyway I was going to fix it and sell it.... but hay now I have a handy macro setup. Working distance was quite good. in that I was about an 1inch to 1.5inches above the subject. Neeto

Oh to put it into some kinda scale. This is my phone screen :P

Pixels
Pixels Lazy Crop

I reckon if I lined up the pixels to match the pixel array of the sensor it could be sharper still :P

# In school we used to fold up a 5 dollar note turning the Queens chin and neck to look as if it was male genitalia. With that , (if you got the folds right) it appeared to be entering her blouse or female genitalia. It was all the rage going through puberty.

Thanks. Remember the full images have been pped as in colour curves and some sharpening in gimp. The crops are out of the camera(just cropped and text placed on them). I have a baffle in the adapter that I think makes some difference. Really just a black washer with the iris big enuf to not stop the lens down.
