self made optical viewfinder for Q

prerequisites for the construction of the viewfinder:
- 01 prime lens has a fast and sure AF
- Q has no built-in optical viewfinder
- at sunny day screen are difficult to see.
- I have some lenses from disassembled pocket film cameras.
- I can to do it

so, was selected a pair of lenses from the viewfinder of film compact camera suitable for the angle of view of the 01 prime lens.
rear lens has a bright frame (field of view) and central mark, also front lens has a reflection coating to reflect the frame image back in to my eye.
so far, so good.

housing machined from aluminium alloy and painted matte-black spray paint.

hot-shoe "male" part was machined from black plastic "delrin" and screwed to the housing with 2 screws, received from donor camera too.
lens glues with epoxy to the slots inside of housing with alignment to "zero parallax" to the 5 meters (my average shooting distance for this lens)
for the shorter or longer distance parallax is insignificant and not worth the attention.
housing cover machined form aluminium alloy too and painted matte black. fixed to the housing with 2 screws...

I was trying it last weekend and I found it useful.

P.S. - also I have an zoom viewfinder from digital compact camera, may be next thing will be OWF with zOOm for my 02 5-15 lens?

Unfortunately not at this time, but I'm glad you made this thread. The pocket film cameras are the disposable ones? Or old cheap rangefinders?

not a disposable, it has a very low lens quality.

from range-finders more better, but they are haven't a frame marks, it range finder frame marks are projected from separate mask. too big. but - it is possible.
from old film point-and-shoot cameras with fixed 35mm lens and BIG view-finder are best.

Does one just turn off the display with this? (my camera hasn't been delivered yet. If I had the camera in my hand it would be a dumb question).

Thank you
