Which Pentax lens for my Q?

Until now I use my (original) Q just as a “teleconverter body” with my selected SLR lenses or for macro (I have only camera body).

I’m thinking about getting some Q-mount lens for this, as I really love small size of the Q. But I have no clue which one seems to be better when it comes to image quality (and versality, but quality is more important) – 01 Prime lens, 02 standard zoom or 06 telezoom?

Regards,
Piotrek

01 and 06 for starters: they are both amazing, and even better on the Q7.
03 for fun. 02 for walk-around practicality.

Thanks for the reply, how looks quality from the standard zoom and prime lens?

For me I stick with the 06 90% of the time, I just love the Bokeh, so I am a bit biased towards that one. If I had the money I would buy the 08.........one day............

For sharpness I think the 01 & 06 are your best choice, it just depends if you prefer primes or zooms.

I took the 06 to a concert recently. The gallery is viewable HERE

I used it solidly for a month HERE and HERE

I think most would accept it's a pretty decent lens.

As for the 01, HERE is my last month with it, but I reckon I could get more out of it now.

Thanks for the replies, Sandy Hancock and sapporodan. The linked photos are awesome! I understand that 06 Lens is really good, but I use adapted lenses mainly for a telephoto range, so... From the replies I also see no big love for a Standard zoom - how it compares to the prime lens?

P.S. I tested quite many adapted lenses. My favorite ones, up to now are: SMC – Pentax M 135/3,5, Super-Takumar 150/4 and Rikenon 50/2. SMC – Pentax M 40/2,8 is also OK, but Q this lens is then not especially competitive with my DSLR For moon shots also SMC Takumar 300/4 and Sigma APO 70 – 300 seem to be good/usable. The lens I plan to test more intensively is my Takumar 200/5,6 which is really small and light, and my Pentax 40XS (I wait for another adapter to try this one). For some macro shots I use EL-Nikkor 50/2,8 (M39 enlarger lens) which gives me some good results.

I just found another month with the 01

For the 02, start HERE and work your way through the rest of the month.

Many thanks for the new inputs - I'm more and more convinced to buy something new for my Q!

I have one more question. According to your experience - is it better to purchase the lens separately or with a new camera?, It seems to me that Q lenses are sold mainly as a part of the kits and sometimes prices are really competitive.

Agree... up to a point... I've found a good walk around kit (in order of use) to be the Q7+08+06+01. The 08 is a recent acquisition and considered pricy by some, but it is a killer lens and worth every penny, IMHO (Christmas is near... might be a good time to hint for help... hint... hint). There are tons of examples in the link (below).

Good luck and cheers... M

It looks like most of us agree that the 01, 06 and 08 are excellent lenses. If you can only get one lens I would recommend the 01 for maximal image quality and flexibility at a reasonable price. In truth, however, I tend to use the 06 and 08 more but to start out they are more expensive.

I bought my Q7 as part of a bundle that included the complete assortment of lenses and carrying bag. At the time it was a good deal. You can probably beat that with any camera+lens combo, now. If you can find it, I'd try for a Q7+01, then build on that...

Cheers... M

Funnily enough my local camera shop is selling twin lens kit bundles that is £30 more expensive then buying them separately from the same shop!

I know the 01 can be hard to find, there are a few sellers shipping them from Japan on Amazon and ebay, but I don't know a single shop that sells it!

I don't have the 06 (I will but not just yet) but I will say that Sandy has it spot on. The 01 is a great little lens for sharp fotos.
