Flash diffuser

Quick, simple an' cheap from a one quart milk carton.

The relatively small area makes it effective as a diffuser for close-ups only. The relatively large area to the right side helps soften the hard shadow thrown by the off-set flash head. Being 'flat' it packs easily in the kit bag.

Another free hood

A very compact and effective hood from an Rx pill bottle. A press fit on the 01. Easily removed to keep the Q + 01 pocket-able.

The front flange isn't actually needed but it provides a means to epoxy an glassless filter ring onto the flange to attach filters - there's adequate clearance to adoid vignetting with most attachments.

It could be shortened even more (to the beginning of the neck of the bottle) without noticeable degradation in shading of the lens.

Just finished attaching the hood to a filter ring (rather than slipping it on to the lens) and confirmed that it works on both the 02 and 06 with two filter rings in the front without vignetting. Much more compact than the aftermarket hoods.

I still prefer this lens hood.

You can screw it on to the 01, 02 or 06 and then screw on a filter to protect the lens. Or screw it onto the filter which is attached to the lens. It works well when used to rotate a polarizer filter. And it adjusts per focal length and collapses when not needed. In addition it absorbs shocks if the lens is accidentally bumped into something. Well worth the money spent. Never leave home without it.

DIY Lens Hood

I made this one out of one of the cheapo slip-on K-mount caps that come with the new lenses. I have some "real" hoods on the way, but this will do for now.
