VF mag

Now for a home brew VF magnifier. The mount is laminated from three thicknesses of file folder cardboard because that was what was in hand at the moment. I managed to leave the metal hangar rod in it for stiffness.

The magnified view is much better at normal viewing distance. It also illustrates how much we need a higher DPI screen for manual focusing.

The gallon jug 'pod works much better with wet sand rather than just water as shown here -- the sand stiffens up the plastic and is not prone to vibrations. But an empty jug weighs nothing if you have to cart it around and expect to find a filler on site and it can easily survive in the trunk/boot of a car.

Well, I'd love to see it but the pictures aren't working.
