Pentax Q Osprey w/Fish 2300mm!

Hey guys, decided to walk across the street from where I live in Florida into Hampton Pine Park and took my Pentax Q & Sigma 170-500 Minolta lens (for my Sony A7) and caught this osprey with a fish about 80 feet up in a tree........with 2300mm reach, it was no problem getting shots.
Still figuring out the best way to shoot this Q but wish I had the newer Q7 and definitely missed not having my A7 on hand when I spotted this osprey- but was glad I had the "Q" with me!
Can't wait to test the Q7!

These are ridiculously great shots! Well done!

Poor fish got its face eaten first.

Awesome shots. It looks like your 170-500 is a better performer than my 50-500 on the Q. What aperture did you use?

---------- Post added 01-02-15 at 12:30 PM ----------

Also the Q crop factor is 5.5x so if you are shooting at 500 the effective focal length is 2750.
4.6 is the Q7 crop factor.

Thank you guys.......I had a 50-500 and think the 50-500 is better......I have a rotating aperture controller on the Minolta adapter so I don't know the aperture- I didn't have it wide open as it's too soft- I had it a tick closed from wide open:

Video's showing focal length captures:

Here's about 200mm: https://www.dropbox.com/s/f4q5rupxfww6zsk/ospreyvideo1.mov?dl=0
(Underexposed to preserve highlights during photo captures- not needed for video when clouds rolled in!)

Here's max at 500mm which is soft: https://www.dropbox.com/s/oxu9tmamm6s46rq/Lensat2300mm.mov?dl=0
(Slightly overexposed~)

Sergy- I'm going to sell this Q as soon as my Q7's arrive (2 on order-will arrive any day).....you can have dibs on this one but I suggest you look at the Q7 or S1 as there's a bump in image quality.
Have fun Q-mates!

Impressive! The Osprey's giving you the eye, too. I wonder which can see the other better, your Q or the osprey?

Some great shots in there. Wonder what my 600mm Novoflex with matched Novoflex 2x teleconverter will do on a Q - let's see, multiplying by 5.5x gives 6600mm, so may need Mount Everest as a tripod ;-) I'm really impressed with the image quality, and been thinking of a Q7 or Q (for my wife, who doesn't use her K-7 much), but then I can "borrow" it.

Great pictures!

So you just happened to take your tripod on this walk?

I was practicing this afternoon with a newly arrived adapter and a 70-210mm lens.
My question is how did you ever get your camera properly aimed at a target so far away and magnified so much?
In my case, I was using the lens at 135mm (effectively 635mm reach with my Q7), and I still had trouble homing on a target that I could clearly see with my eyes.
