Is the Panasonic 35-100 f4-5 the same as the 06??

I was amazed when I read about the new Panasonic 35-100. Its almost the same size and weight as the 06! but of cause a far slower aperture.

But I would love to know how it stacks up against the 06, I wonder which one has the better bokeh, as the Pani is a lot slower but the far larger M4/3 sensor must compensate for that and may give a better depth of field?
Also it may be slower but you can crank up the ISO on the Pani a lot higher in low light to compensate!

I am worried that Pentax may get left behind as one of the Q's main selling points is the fantastic ability to carry a load of lenses in your pocket. But now people can carry around the Panasonic GM1/2 + 12-32 + 35-100 and its not that much bigger than a Q S-1 + 02 + 06 (also there are the 28mm, 35mm and 40mm equivalent M4/3 pancakes).

I really hope Pentax responds to this and gives us more lenses and makes them a bit smaller (02 I am looking at you!)

The f2.8 lens is $1500. The f4.0-5.6 is only about $400:

Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 35-100mm f/4.0-5.6 ASPH. MEGA H-FS35100K

O.k. I missed that slower lens. It is still nearly 2x what the 06 is going for.

I think the 06 was around that price when it was released, the Panasonic lens is still new on the market.

I think your thinking of the f2.8 version of the Pany, that things twice as big and three times as heavy

The new Panasonic is around 55mm high and 50mm dia, the 06 is 50mm high and about 56mm dia.
