Has anyone tried Tamron 150-600 w/Q?

Having tons of fun with my 170-500 and the Q- but this Sigma is on the lower end of quality for the zooms they make........has anyone tied the Tamron 150-600 with a Q?

I shot these today, this is a male iguana hidden in the middle of a tree about 40 feet up or so- very dark view- really surprised the Q7 did so well considering how dark the spot was........my guess is the Tamron would do better.

John, tell me about it......my daughter fell in love with my Q7 so I'm going to give her the black Q7 which should arrive tomorrow (was going to return it and just keep the Q7 silver/black)........and now I'm going to buy 2 more lenses, the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 and this Tamron 150-600 and call it quits for awhile.
I have just about all the Q series lenses but keep shooting with the adapted lenses because of the fun!
~Bank account killers, these Q's are!~

Next mission is to try digiscoping!!

Steve,
That would be highly tempting, for the sake of science if anything.
I'm sure my Q would fit into the bottom third of the Tamron's lens hood.
As I've not used any adapters with the Q before, would an EOS-to-Q adapter allow me to control the aperture of the lens at all? Wide open at f6.3 the lens is OK, but noticeably better at f8--especially at 600mm.
Thanks,

M

New Kipon Adapter with Aperture for Canon EOS EF Mount Lens to Pentax Q Camera | eBay

This will allow you to use the EOS lenses and control the aperture- beware the $22 adapters which will NOT allow u to control aperture.
Keep in mind you don't want to go smaller than f10 as diffraction will come into play......if the lens' sweet spot is F8- set it there and shoot away!

Also note that adapter is a bit different from others in that the adapter itself has a diaphragm that you open/close- you would have to use an EOS body and open the lens wide and remove when the "depth of field" preview button to keep the lens open.........then use this adapter to close as you wish.

Ahhh, thanks for that. So I couldn't use the DOF preview button trick with the cheapo adapters?

Yes, use the DOF trick to keep the lens open- then mount the adapter and control iris with adapter- works like a charm!

I shot some EOS lenses with a cheap adapter without problems, I just set the aperture I wanted (f8) with the lens mounted on the camera then powered down the Canon and removed the lens then mounted it to the adapter. Yes the DOF preview button trick works fine.

Buy the way that Sigma looks great
