I'm impressed by the 50mm Pentax 110 lens' performance on the Q. Here's a 100% crop with a ~f/4 aperture disc fitted. I've run the OOC .jpg through Irfan View's auto colour adjustment and a slight sharpening. The sky colour is realistic; it's a heavily overcast day here.

Looks great. The 110 lenses are fun to use on a Q. They are so tiny. Do you have the Soligar 110 teleconverter?
Thanks for sharing,

I wish I did. I haven't been able to find one at a reasonable price. I have got a pan focus 18mm as well as 24mm lenses though. I'm liking the pan focus. It makes a nice portrait lens on the Q. Slightly soft, but very easy to use for snap shots and stealthy candid street shots.

Do you know where I might find a teleconverter?

Here is a Soligar 110 teleconverter. Pentax Soligor 1.7 Teleconverter For Pentax 110 Camera | eBay

Used mine on the 50mm 110 lens a few times. It was decent. Don't remember if the lens was wide open or stopped down using Lensbaby aperture disc. Used original Q. Need to try on Q7.
Thanks,
barondla

Thanks for checking. Looking at the photos, it looks like the TC has an aperture stop built into it. Which makes sense, since the camera's built-in diaphragm would end up a long way behind the rear element otherwise and would likely introduce coma.

I'll have to wait for one to show up nearer home. That copy would double in price by the time I got it due to shipping and customs charges.

There is indeed a built-in aperture stop. The resulting f-stop is f/8.0, which is a bit too much for the Q' s tiny sensor. As a consequence (and also because of the rather crude 2 element optical construction), the resulting images are quite soft. Here' s a copy of the user's notice (click for full size):

Cheers!

Thanks for posting the original literature! Interesting that the blurb makes no mention of the 70mm lens. But that may have been introduced later in the system's life? Obviously there's little point in attaching the 24mm if you own the 50mm, which only gains 15mm over the 70mm lens anyway. Has anyone tried the TC on the 70? Another question: does the larger Q7/QS1 sensor cope with f/8 any better than the Q/Q10? And yet another question: given the wider FOV of the larger sensor, how much would you gain in IQ after you've cropped in anyway?

The TC with the 70 is not bad at all. I'll make some samples.

I've had good results with the Soligor 1.7x TC and 70mm 110 lens. Practical usage is kinda pain because there's a lot of play between the Q adapter, the TC and lens. Also I find the focus action on the 110 lenses to be too light and it's hard to just leave the focus set. Just by looking at it, the focus is already changed! (Schrödinger are you listening?)

Looking forward to the 70 with (and without please) the TC.

I've been lucky. The fit is good with my adaptors (no-name on the Q and a Pixco on my PanyGX1). The damping on the lenses is ok too. A bit stiff on my 24, I might make a larger diameter barrel for it.

I took this pic of the GX1 and 50mm with the Q and the 18mm

How good are Auto-110 lenses on the micro 4/3? Sometimes I'm thinking I have to buy one spare Q-body for them and some nice C-mount lenses BTW. But as my white Q is still going strong, maybe better strategy is not to worry as I can always buy some used small Oly/Panasonic in case it dies?

I'm still experimenting. The 18mm with ~f/4 aperture disc is pretty good. Some softness at the edges, but a minor crop takes care of that and still gives a much wider FOV than the Q. The 50 is giving me a lot of CA near the edges, but playing around with home-made hoods might improve matters.

I found D-mount also covers the image circle on the Q, and picked up a very nice all metal Sankyo 38mm f/1.4 at a reasonable price. It's a great indoor portrait lens, but also gets significant CA in stronger light.

Older M4/3 bodies can be had at very reasonable prices now. Cheaper than a Q. The good lenses are pricier. I got the GX1 for free buying a two lens kit and selling the lenses. I might sell that too and look out for an OMD E-M10 II. I want the 5 axis IBIS.
