Yep. I have completely borked my K-S1's card reader now, and no doubt voided my warrantee.
Off to C. R. Kennedy it goes....

Oh, dear...a follow up here on my problem. I 'thought' I had this fixed but no. I was able to use the camera until yesterday when now, shortly after start up, I'm getting a 'memory card error' and the camera powers down. This doesn't mater which card is in there and I think this one had to go to get repaired. Had to do a calculation of getting it repaired versus a new Q-S1. So far the repair is the more cost effective way to go. So off to the shop and going back to my original Q to continue my 365 project. Ugg.
This week I managed to bend a pin in the CF interface of my ancient Canon Rebel, so now I'm suddenly in the market for a K-50 or something similar, since I've never expected my Q7 to be my primary camera. I was feeling really bad until I saw these comments - thank you for making me aware that I'm not the only one with problems like this.

Well I'm beyond that with my Q7 but somehow I knew it was going to need repair anyway.

I had to get my Q7 repaired after 11 months for a SD card slot that would not pop out.
You could put a card in and use it but it would not click, and you could not extract it by pushing and having the spring eject it.
Tweezers were needed to extract.
I sent it to Precision under warranty and they fixed it properly and it's been working fine since.

Would that I could get it done under warranty but I'm well past that. Essentially my problem is similar with the twist that I get the memory card error and it shuts down. I'll be sending to to Precision this week. May I ask was the rough cost was and turn around time on the repair was?

There was no charge since it was still under warranty.
Turnaround time was about three weeks IIRC.
