Help with 3rd party batteries

Hi,

Pentax Q-S1 really eats batteries and for that I bought a Fuji NP-50 from ebay as a backup. But that backup battery appears to be depleting even faster than the original L-LI68 battery that come with the camera.

Could you please share which particular third party batteries you have successfully used on the Q and if those last as long as the original OEM battery?

Thanks

Raider,

I have had really good experience with Wasabi brand batteries. I don't have them for my Q7, but for a few of my other cameras. I'm at the point where those are now my default purchase.

I have the one Pentax D-Li68, rated at 940 mAh, that came with my Q-7,
and two Wasabi BTR-KLIC7004-JWP, rated at 1100 mAh.
I don't have any way of measuring how much stress I put on each battery,
and I don't necessarily run each one completely down (I recharge when convenient for me),
but my sense is that the Wasabi batteries last at least as long as the Pentax one does.

I had 4 wasabi batteries for my canon s95 and I find that they don't hold charge as good as the original OEM batteries....

Do you guys use other batteries apart from wasabi?

I use Watson batteries as an replacement for the battery in my K-50, and I can't tell any difference between them and the OEM battery... B&H carries the Watson replacement for the Q-S1:

Thanks for that. I will google the Watson battery.

Do anyone know if this is a genuine Pentax D-LI68? It has very different packaging to the one I am holding now.

It's a replacement third party battery not an original
edit unless it's an old battery- the one in my recently acquired QS-1 shows that Pentax belongs to the Hoya Corporation(!)
So that's why I don't think it's genuine- anyway the batteries are made in China not Japan but I stand to be corrected.

The internal cells (the part that actually make electricity) are made in Japan, and then the pieces are assembled into a complete battery using (cheaper) Chinese labor. That is also true of my Wasabi batteries.

Halcyon and Wasabi via Amazon are what I use in most of my Pentax cameras. They work pretty well and I've had no problems with them.
