Thanks for the shots Piotrek. I just searched eBay and Tamron Adaptall 300mm did not get many hits. There are a few Tamron Adaptall 70-200 and 200-500 but 300mm is almost never to be seen. I guess good old lenses is hard to come by.
It is 60-300, not 300.

I have to agree with Scott, I love my DAL 55-300 on my Q and Q7 other than that I find my SMC M 135 f3.5 also is a nice lens on the Q7

I tested one more lens today inspired by this thread and maybe found good one that could be purchased really cheap (I bought my copy for about 45 USD including adaptall mount and international shipping).
This is Tamron SP Adaptall 60 - 300 23A (3.8 - 5.4) which I tested today at 300/5.4 with the original Q fitted with generic adapter on the tripod.
The Tamron 23A is the "bang for the buck" king of the tele zooms, as far as I'm concerned. It's roughly equal in IQ to the Pentax DA 55-300 at a fraction of the cost. Plus, it has a really useful macro mode. I have the DA 55-300 and still use the Tamron from time to time.

Considering the prices of the DA-L version of the 55-300 that 23A must be good and very cheap. Nice to know.

It is... $40-$50 is the usual going rate for one. Only caveat is it's manual all the way unless you have the pricey Adaptall PK-A adapter.

Not a concern if the Q is your target as every adapted lens is all manual on the Q...

Greed bay had only a couple in that price range, both with haze and fungus. The only one in good condition was over 100 without an adapter. I think the secret is out...

You might try KEH. You gotta have some patience with eBay. It's real hit or miss.

Hi guys. My Pentax Q2K Adapter finally arrived and I have been playing with it. One thing I find is that I am unable to use the x4 and x6 focus assist mode when the Q2K adapter is used...focus peaking mode is still available however. When I use native Q lenses, x4 and x6 focus assist mode becomes available again.

Is this the intended behaviour? Thanks

You should be able to hit the OK button to get the focus magnify function, which would normally be activated by the turn of the focus ring on a Q smart lens.

Thanks crewl1 for that. That works perfectly as you described.

And I'm sitting here wondering why the Tair-3 hasn't been mentioned. Lens is good. just hella heavy.

Well, good except the ca in the background blur...

Tamron SP Adaptall 60 - 300 23A

Shot with the (first) Q camera at 300/5.4 (wide open). Processed in Registax (5 frames stacked) and with Topaz Detail.

Impressive moon image Piotrek K. You have the Q and 300 producing to the max. Did you have any trouble getting the Q to do 5 exposures quickly enough for stacking? Were you using a clock drive or can Registax combine multiple exposures when the subject has shifted in each shot?
