Question about official K-to-Q adapter

While I await delivery of my Q7 + dual zoom kit (due in a few days), my official Pentax K to Q lens adapter has arrived. I'm impressed with the quality, but have a couple of minor concerns... Firstly, the iris blades appear to be quite loose - they move a little if I shake the adapter gently Is this normal? Secondly, when I rotate the aperture ring, the blades don't open or close. Having said that, the ring doesn't feel like it is mechanically linked to the iris, and I'm guessing it's a "focus by wire" arrangement. Is this correct?

Those aren't aperture blades, that is the leaf shutter.

The aperture ring moves the aperture blades in the lens.

Aha! Thanks for that!

So... is it normal for the leaf shutter to be somewhat loose?

Yes, until the first time you use the adapter I believe.

The shutter blades in mine are loose when the adapter is not mounted to the camera.

The blades need to be "electrically-loaded" to perform correctly. Have patience.
