agreed. RICOH, you absolutely lost it with your totally crampy 36MP nonsense... whilst Canons "TOP of the RANGE" 1DX2 will feature 16 still fps in
full resolution(around 20.2MP) and 120fps FULLHD video,

our first step into full frame land has gone totally wrong with 4.4fps... and not even 60p in FullHD ...
Really? 36Mp@4.4fps for $1800 versus 20Mp@16fps for $6000 is a tradeoff that makes a LOT of sense for Ricoh's first entry into FF. Video has never been a priority for Pentax cameras, and the D810 only beats the K-1 by offering 1080p60, at $1000 more.

As for the Q, Ricoh has limited options in terms of sensor growth, so they should look at making the next Q with WR, new lenses, and usability features for compacts (EVF/tilt screen/improved SR, improved video features.)

I must say that I've seen more web chatter about the K-1 than I've ever seen about anything related to Pentax, and unlike some of what is said here, it is all positive!.

They could always ditch the Bayer color filter and give us a Q Monocrom.

I'd buy it, and although I'm sure it would never be a mainstream product, there are probably a fair number of other photonerds who would get one just to play with and see what it can do.

2.35:1 foveon sensor with q pixel density = over 30MP anamorphic still images from such a tiny sensor.. the only problem atm is that the q uses such a small area through glass. er basically means q needs more glass.

that would destroy bmpcc...sorry ppls

Q bodies are so inexpensive I would like to see a special set produced. 1. Standard sensor. 2. Monocrome sensor. 3. Infrared sensor. Sell all three in a bundle.

Q are so small, it would be easy to carry all three. Almost like interchangeable film backs.
Thanks

Why can't you do all that with software controls? ...and carry one camera?

Bluefoam, because it doesn't look the same. We have IR effect already on the Q. It is nice, but real IR looks so much better. Also for B&W you can't get rid of the RGB filter over the sensor. This is why avid B&W shooters love the Leica Monochrom.

I am going to buy an old Pentax Q for a travel photo setup which will be something like that:

- 2 Q Bodies, 01, 02, 03, 06 and 08 lenses, a pocket wizard with 2 strobes, 6 spare batteries, 4 SD cards, 2 power-banks, 1 TB external SSD and a 10" tablet with keyboard. All that in a Lowepro Slingshot.

I think the Q is the ultimate travel-photographer's camera. I hope that in the new Q model they will trickle down several technologies from the existing DSLR-line. Such as pixel-shift, composition adjustment, astrotracer with a built-in gps, WiFi and it would also be plain awesome if we could exploit those leaf-shutters with (studio-)strobes at full sync speed.... 1/2000 s

Just my 2 cents.

I want to see a weather sealed q body. That said, I'm not sure the existing lenses are weather proof.

45-150mm tele macro lens, retain Qs1 and Q7,add another body with the 4K video sensor from the new action cam.

There not going to be WR body or lenses, evf is an option already.

16mp,touch screen NFC&WIFI....

No!
No!!
No!!!
{that is not an EVF!!!!}

I added a mirror which flips to the left or down; it hasn't been as useful as I had hoped, but it doesn't add much size or weight to my Q-7.

The loupe is useful, but it triples the length of the camera. It does the job, but at a serious cost.
When we ask for an EVF, we're talking about something not so loosely held to the camera that it might break off when I place it in my bag {or if I accidentally pick up the camera by it, since it is the majority of the area of the "system"}, and without that tremendous size cost.
