Pentax D-LI122 replacing D-LI68?

Was browsing at B&H and came across this one...

Pentax D-LI122 Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery For Optio VS20 38916

It says
"The Pentax D-LI122 Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery For Optio VS20 replaces the D-LI68 and powers the Optio VS20 megazoom digital camera. The battery gives you approximately 200 recordable images, 100 min of video recording, and 180 min of video playback per full charge. It features 3.7 V, a capacity of 940 - 1000 mAh, and a power output of 3.5 Wh.

Is this true? Don't think I have heard anyone mention this in PF?

It looks like the two have almost the same specs (0,1v voltage difference) and a slightly different labeling indicating that D-Li122 are made for the EU market vs the D-Li68B for other markets. The difference may be in chemical composition of the battery and soldering, in order to reduce hazardous substances (EU RoHS directive). I guess D-Li122 have soldered terminals with a lead free type of solder and probably a different battery chemistry.

The VS20 was new in 2012, FYI.

This replacement battery looks like it has a different voltage (3.7 instead of 3.6) compared to the D-Li68. I'm sure that's within the margin of tolerance so it can probably be used with the Q too, though I'm not sure why you would want to.

The D-LI122 is also more expensive than the D-LI68....not sure why...the capacity is exactly the same too.

3.7 x 0.94= 3.478Wh, so that's correct then. It's no more than the previous battery, it must be cheaper to make methinks.

3.7 is a more standard voltage; most batteries seem to be either 3.7v or 7.4v (=2*3.7). I have a generic charger that is supposed to charge 3.7v and 7.4v batteries, but it seems to charge my D-LI68 batteries also.

Hmm....the battery is cheaper to make but more expensive for the consumer....is this the way Pentax wanted to squeeze more profit from us?
