There is so many things missing from the US Ricoh website I don't think you can safely draw any conclusions. The site has been a mess since Ricoh shutdown the Pentax Webstore site a few years ago. Links seem to appear and disappear seemingly at random. Maybe the site is being hacked by Ricoh Japan and they don't know it.
Who else would bother to hack the RIAC website?

One thing I have noticed is the number of new QS-1's is definitely declining. Amazon and Ebay essentially have no listings for new ones. B&H and Adorama have very few. It seems the format just never caught on. I am always being asked why I have my K3 when I have a smartphone. Some people just do not understand. I believe most people, at least here in the US would just rather use their phone. Mirrorless sales overall have suffered from smartphones as well I think. The only mirrorless cameras that seem to do well are ones with a viewfinder. That is the one thing a smartphone can not offer. I would like to see the Q line continue but here in the US it seems unlikely.

Perhaps Pentax should join some leading smartphone manufacturer to build something new. Like Leica and Huawei and earlier Zeiss did with Nokia.
Of course Pentax is not a famous lens manufacturer. But they could have something else to introduce in smartphone photography.

No it's not. Otherwise there would be some new product, being lens or body. It sells, but not good enough.

Sadly I can confirm that. I am in Japan now and poked around quite a few stores, and the Q-S1 is nowhere to be seen in the few shops I went to. The lenses are still on sale though. I was here back in August as well and the salesperson who saw me looking at the lenses said "discontinued" and gestured me towards other mirrorless cameras... Sigh...

I wish Pentax would just give a straightforward answer as to the future of the Q system.

My guess: They are not quite sure themselves yet, what the answer is / should be?

You're probably right. They're leaving their options open, watching trends, possibly doing some quiet engineering work that may or may not lead to a next generation Q. This is okay with me. My use and enjoyment of the Q7 doesn't depend on knowing the future.

Or there is a business reason not to officially 'Kill' Q before April 1st, start of the next fiscal year.

I don't think so. I don't think there is a lot of inventory left over that would needed to be seen as a write-off after official being discontinued. Maybe some day they will give us notice of the ending.

There has been no official notice of the end of the GXR line yet / either.

Ricoh Imaging just don't do such things.

No, but the GXR is at least officially listed as discontinued on the ricoh-imaging.co.jp homepage, and so are the Q, Q10 and Q7, while the Q-S1 is not (yet).
