And the 06 Telephoto Zoom arrived.

I have a feeling that if I were carrying only two lens it would be the 01 and 06. The 02 might not get much use in my hands since I lean primes whenever it's around norm/wide.

Some quick 06 shots from today :

And some of the 01 shots from the same day (mostly ISO 400, with the exception of the last one at ISO 3200)

(Mine is the top left with the row of boys and the girl with a hula hoop)

Nice shots. I need to goto the Art Museum soon. It had been awhile. If you have not done the firmware update for the 02 lens it does help.

Updated firmware for Q10, 01, and 02 when I got them. Didn't see anything else needing a firmware update.

The 06 is a wonderful lens. You will not regret it. It also makes a pretty decent portrait lens for the Q system. Some of my best shots are from a Q + 06.

Two recent examples:

Have fun with your 06!

Nice shots everyone! 06 Telephoto is one of the gems of the lineup. My 3 lens kit is the 01, 06, and 08.

I would have the 08 in place of the 02 (since to me, the 01 would be smack in the middle of the 08 and 06), but it's way out of my price range at the moment.

Whatever "they" say about the Pentax Q system as such, I think everybody should admit that the Q-series High Performance lenses are truly gems of optical designs and craftmanship. Opinions may differ about the 02 standard zoom, but I personally would include it amongst the gems.

Keep an eye out for the 08, they are starting to appear on the used market. I got mine from Adorama, for $210. It even had the JCC lens hood!

Whole thread is excellent shots. It's amazing what you can pull out of such a small sensor.

Figured my Olympus E-M5 was feeling neglected since I been carrying around the Pentax Q10 more so since it wasn't raining last night I took it out.
Which can be seen on this album here : Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet Most of them are stitchings or HDR, mostly with the 1951 Canon Serenar 35mm f/2.8 Leica Thread Mount lens, with a couple from the Jupiter-11 135mm f/4 LTM, and on the wider end the Olympus 12mm f/2.0, with the very last one being the Olympus 9mm f/8.

While I was out shooting with the E-M5 I kept the Pentax Q10 in my coat pocket with a manfrotto (RC0... it's bigger than the camera) quick release plate already attached, and the 06 Telephoto Zoom attached to it. Since I had both of the cameras QR mounted, I would swap after I did some shots with the Olympus.

@ 20.4mm (113mm equiv) and f/3.2

@ 19.3mm (107mm equiv) and f/3.2

The 02 seems to have the nicest build, as the 08 and 06 both seem a little more plastic-y -- in particular, the zoom rings. I think Pentax had a little more 'premium' quality in the initial release (which included the 01 and 02) with the also-nicest-built original Q, but were stressing cost control with later body and lens releases.

My biggest issue with Q lenses is actually the flare on the 01. I may be mis-labeling it as 'flare' -- what I think it is are internal reflections, possibly off the sensor. It has a real tendency to produce big, usually unattractive pink artifacts if there's much of a light source in the frame, and a hood doesn't help with this. I don't think the zooms suffer this nearly as often or badly.

Do you see the artifact on the original q body or on one of the others? Haven't noticed that particularly on my Q10 and the 01, not using a hood but rather a 40.5 to 37mm step down ring.

I concur that the focus ring on the 06 feels cheap, though the rest of the lens seems OK, just not as "solid" feeling as the 01
