Tiny Tokina mirror lens on Pentax Q

The very compact Tokina - Reflex 300mm F6.3 MF Macro mirror lens designed specifically for MFT camera’s I just finished fashioning an adaptor for use with Pentax Q series cameras.

I have run out of photo space on the Pentax forum so had to blog for photo sharing.

Simply hacked an MFT rear lens cap with the metal mount from Q macro ring.

Sample images taken with this combo to come. 😃

So cool looking. Hope it is a killer optically. If sharp, this would rock on the Q.
Thanks for sharing,

Very nice work on the adapter!

I was amazed to find there's no commercially available m43-to-Q adapter... I'd have expected someone to produce one by now, considering that adapters for virtually every other known mount seem to be available.

That lens became hard to find in a hurry. Nice adaptation.

Updated my blog page with some quick sample pics. 1st experiences with a mirror lens. Looking forward to more fun times experimenting, especially with the 1:2 macro functionality, it can focus as close as 0.8m !

I got this specifically for the doughnut bokeh effect unique to the mirror lenses. To have it in such a compact portable package is a bonus.

Shooting the moon through breezy tree branches was a delight!

I suspect the fact that without an electronic adapter, most m43 lenses wouldn't focus or allow aperture control limits the appeal. The manual focus and aperture lenses are often offered in other mounts already so a manual passive adapter is rarely needed. Finally, the relatively small marketplace for m43-Q adapters likely reduces incentives to market one.

Doh! I hadn't thought of that... So with the AF lenses on m43, do they manually focus "by wire"??

To be fair it was a surprise to me too - I read about it and then I bought one and experienced it first hand.

Agree with you. How about a passive CS to PQ adaptor? I had to make my own adaptor for CS Mount lens use on a Q as the only one available to buy commercially has a very silly high asking price.

No doubt the small numbers in sold units is to blame. So DIY PQ adaptors it is... for now.

I didn't realize that MFT mirror lens was so small.

Imagine how small a reflex mirror lens would be if designed specifically for Pentax Q!

I really want one... just haven't been able to justify it for my m43 second system. Honestly I REALLY which there was an autofocus one available.

I think it was awesome that the mount ring plus cap came out so perfect. How did you know that you would get infinity? Had you already measured that? It is a cute beasty.
