I have the Pentax PQ K adaptor and use it with K mount lenses and adaptor for m42 lens. To my knowledge, having the mechanical shutter in the adaptor
1)safeguards from rolling shutter jello in photos
2)allows longer than 2s exposures (up to 30s?) and bulb mode for a lot longer.
*Edit:
3)unlocks the use of the flash at faster than 1/13s.
The Pentax PQ K adaptor has other benefits such as:
A) for K mount lenses you get to use the mechanical aperture ring control built into the mount.
B) allows for addition of a separately available tripod foot mount.
Are there other benefits or even drawbacks perhaps you know of?
If I ever come across a semi working 02 standard zoom, I am thinking of tearing it down to cannibalize it for a DIY adaptor that has electronic control of the mechanical shutter (max 1/2000s), electronic control of the mechanical aperture, switching on and off the built-in ND. Probably an adaptor for the Pentax Auto 110 range of lenses?
The Q would still recognize the adaptor as a 02 Standard Zoom of course... just thinking aloud. I have a spare used 02 I picked Up inexpensively, but it is in full working order so will have to wait for the right opportunity to arrise before I consider an 02 lens tear-down.
