Pentax Auto 110 to PQ adaptor with mechanical shutter

I have the Pentax PQ K adaptor and use it with K mount lenses and adaptor for m42 lens. To my knowledge, having the mechanical shutter in the adaptor

1)safeguards from rolling shutter jello in photos

2)allows longer than 2s exposures (up to 30s?) and bulb mode for a lot longer.

*Edit:
3)unlocks the use of the flash at faster than 1/13s.

The Pentax PQ K adaptor has other benefits such as:

A) for K mount lenses you get to use the mechanical aperture ring control built into the mount.

B) allows for addition of a separately available tripod foot mount.

Are there other benefits or even drawbacks perhaps you know of?

If I ever come across a semi working 02 standard zoom, I am thinking of tearing it down to cannibalize it for a DIY adaptor that has electronic control of the mechanical shutter (max 1/2000s), electronic control of the mechanical aperture, switching on and off the built-in ND. Probably an adaptor for the Pentax Auto 110 range of lenses?
The Q would still recognize the adaptor as a 02 Standard Zoom of course... just thinking aloud. I have a spare used 02 I picked Up inexpensively, but it is in full working order so will have to wait for the right opportunity to arrise before I consider an 02 lens tear-down.

Seems very tricky 2old4toys. Wonder if the 02 mechanical shutter is "thin" enough to fit between body and 110 lens while allowing infinity focus? Is it known where in the 02 lens the nd filter sits? Great idea but lots of ifs. Not sure I would kill a 02 to use 110 lenses, and I have 110 lenses.

Keep us posted,

Oh I would not operate on a perfectly healthy lens but rather be waiting to get my hands on a 02 donor on itís last legs that had some form of focus failure or damaged optics etc... the most important bit I am interested in is a working shutter, 2nd the aperture and a distant 3rd the ND.

That would be something, If you ever got it working I'm sure members here would love a photo step by step of the journey!

I promise that no Pentax 02 standard zoom lenses were harmed in the making of this video!

See how closely sandwiched the shutter, aperture and ND mechanisms are layered together in a very compact unit. Promising...

If you want to donate a lens to me for dissection... PM me 🤣

I just remembered another nice functionality unlocked by such a hack: allowing adapted lenses and the Qís flash at much higher speeds that is otherwise limited to 1/13th of a second.

The combined shutter/aperture/ND mechanism looks very thin.

I am encouraged that this is do-able.

*edit 1/13th sec not 13s

2old4toys wondering if you've made any progress on this adapter with shutter?
Thanks,
barondla

Would love to proceed but I have not found a donor candidate for this one yet.

I found this useful image of the mechanism in question from an old thread here. Post it here for ref. Donít know which Q lens it is from. Looks quite bulky. Not so optimistic now to align it in the right spot within an adaptor so that it wonít cause unwanted vignettes.
