Great that it worked out for you.

I'm always pleasantly surprised at what the Q can do, especially when I think of what I would need to have in a bigger format to capture a similar shot.

The tripod foot from my DA* 60-250 fits the adapter, and with something like my DFA 100 WR macro, it's quite the potent and portable little package. Really enjoying the Q-S1, and happy to have gotten the adapter too. I've had some pretty impressive results with the little guy hanging off the back of my DFA 150-450 too. Need the "big" tripod for that combo to be steady.
I use my combination on the end of a walking-stick / monopod {attached to the foot on the adapter}; that provides me with both the mobility I want and the stability I need. Yes, it could be sharper - but I'm not addicted to needle sharpness - and it provides the best kit I've ever had for our birding walks.

Do you have one of those walking sticks with an Arca quick release on top?

No - I have a MeFoto device and still use it with the screw .... which is awkward when something just suddenly appears.

To be honest the K-Q adaptor is probably not worth buying if you have a modern K-mount DSLR.

This is an image with a K-Q adaptor mounted on a Q7:

This is a cropped image with the same lens on a K70:

Unless I'm doing something wrong, the DSLR cropped image is always going to be superior.

I'm not sure the top photo is in focus.
I use the Q-7 to get three-times the 'reach' I could get with my K-30.
Even on your K-70, cropping would result in a 2.7mp photo, and normally that cannot have the same detail that a properly focused 12mp photo will.

Very possibly. But that was the best focussed of 3 pics. It's very hard to focus the Q7 with K-Q adaptor.

Are you using the Pentax adapter or a third party adapter?

My experience is different. Here is a full-frame shot on my K-01 with a 90mm Apo-Rodagon:

Here is an extreme crop of the center area, Q7 image on the left, K-01 (mirrored) on the right:

No sharpening on either. I find this typical of my results with the Q7. The K-70 sensor has a little more resolution than the K-01's, but not that much.

That said, the Q sensor does interact differently with different lenses, and it certainly shows any abberations or fringing on a adapted lens.

I found that the focus peaking on my Q-7 works better than the "focus confirmation" signal on my K-30 does. Part of the issue is that modern lenses have a short focus throw, so there is very little difference between 'in focus' and not in focus, so usually I would take several photos and carefully refocus between shots,

Awesome that the Q is sharper than the full frame crop!

In one of his reviews, Adam compared Q/Pentax oem adapter vs cropping the FF Nikon D800. The Nikon lost. 36 full frame megapixels weren't a match for the Q!
Thanks,

By the arithmetic of area, the FF camera is using only 5% of its available pixels, an APS camera is using only 11% of its available pixels.

I’d misread the K01 used here for a FF K1... but still impressive. I’m thinking a Q pivoting will shoot a sharper stitched image of a scene vs the same megapixel sized single image from the K70 using the same lens manually focused. I wonder if the anti aliasing filter pitch on the 2 systems makes the difference. (Does k70 have an AA filter?
