Awesome image! Amazed that a 24 adapted to the Q-S1 worked out so well. Would've thought it was too long a focal length. I have the Soratama and 72 extension tube coming for Christmas. Hope to use it on the Q, K-01, and K-1. May have to rethink what lenses it will work best with.
Thanks for sharing,
barondla

Part of what's intriguing about this is what seems to be a large range of options to play with.

Agree. Mine should arrive next week. The 72mm extension tubes are already in house.
Thanks,

Finally received the lens today. It is more complicated than it looks to get a lens to focus on the ball and not pick up the edges of the extension tubes. I played with it on the K-1 to get a feel for how many 72mm tubes are needed between front of lens and ball vs the number of extension tubes needed between camera body and lens. The 43mm was tough since it doesn't focus close naturally. The Pentax PKA 35-70 zoom is easier and zooming allows some adjustment of the size of the glass sphere.

Next I'll be experimenting with the combo on the Q. May have to write down all the rings, adapters, etc. used for each lens. Want to make the Q setup as light as possible to avoid undue stress on the host lens.

Thanks,
barondla

Looks great. I need a Q-S1 someday. Managed to play with the Q7 and Soratama today before work. Used it on the 02 and was surprised AF works part of the time.

I've now standardized the # of 72 extension rings to be the same for the Q7/02 and K-1/ Pentax PKA 35-70. Only the back adapter assembly changes between the two set ups. Is the glass sphere smaller on the 52 vs 72 version?
Thanks,
barondla

Pentax Q7 with 72mm Soratama lens. 1st attempts. So far the Q is easier to use than the K-1.
Thanks for looking,

This is the same setup: Pentax Q-S1 + Pentax Q-K adapter + Sigma 24 MM Wide II Macro + 72mm Soratama
To make the image a little sharper across the sphere I made four shots with different focus and merged it with Affinity Photo.
