Wish the Q could use built in flash for wireless P-TTL master.

Would be a nice thing to add to the next Q. Especially with the release of the #10 macro. Come on Pentax.
Thanks,
barondla

"... the next Q"! Wow, that would be a surprise. There hasn't been much sign of life in Q-land for a long time.

You can already trigger flashes using optical just not p-ttl exposure based. In macro work I'm not sure p-ttl makes much sense. Cactus or even dumb triggers and manual flash seems easy enough. Remote control is more of an issue when distances are greater and walking back and forth or pulling out to adjust a flash is complicated.

Still trying to be optimistic that Pentax will launch a new Q. The #10 macro lens already exists as a prototype. There are pictures of it and by it on the web.

Pentax could use the same sensor and body with some feature tweaks. Shouldn't be hard to add Pixel Shift Resolution, P-TTL master wireless slave capability and hotshoe flash sync up to 1/1000. Would also love to see the sensor guard replaced with interchangeable filters similar to Sigma DSLRs. Then camera could be set up for normal, IR, or full spectrum photography.

Thanks,
barondla

I remember seeing the prototype and looking forward to having a macro for the Q, I purchased a set of kookai extension tubes which are next to useless, even the smallest tube leaves on a few mm from the 01 lens to the subject.

The short tube is supposed to work well with the #06 tele zoom. Would be neat to use with the macro.
Thanks,
barondla

I would like to see a new Q with improved AL capability and a little viewfinder for sunny days. This little gem is worth to take a look on.

AL? Sorry I'm not clear what this means.

Even if the built-in flash doesn't work for wireless P-TTL, you can always use a wire with your Pentax flash:

Vello P-TTL Cord for Pentax (image credit: B&H)

I use one for macro, it's cheap and it works very well (available from B&H, Amazon, etc.).

Cheers!

There is always room for improvement but it's not that bad, here is an old image from the QS-1 at iso 3200

Cheers

you are right, the Q-S1 is not so bad at all, but it is always in comparison with the High ISO ability of my K-1 ... o.k. K1 is the benchmark ...
