Anyone here want to sell the 08 with a reasonable price please let me know ... or should we make a petition to ricoh to produce the Q line lens and camera again since still a lot of people want it ....

Sadly not enough of us to make it a commercial proposition. I, too, would like a 08 and was annoyed to miss out on a auction about a year and a half ago. Not seen one for sale in the UK since.

08 is nice lens for the Q system.
Too bad it came so late and is quite expensive.

It does shine in the right situations, but I am 2 minds about it.
When I take landscapes, I want the best quality possible and that usually means bringing my K1 or A7.
So its only in non-photo dedicated / opportunistic situations that I will use the Q7 and 08

I purchased my Q-7 because I expected to use it for birding - but that required adopting a K-mount lens, then manually focusing. Eventually it found a use in indoors situations {where I could see it’s LCD without a Hoodman}, and where it’s quietness and being lightweight were advantages. The ‘08 lens typically didn’t fit into any of those uses, but the ‘02 did. I would have been much happier if the Pentax adapter had provided a complete KAF4 mount.

I've had mine for about five years, I don't use it that much but it is handy to have to get a different perspective:

I'd buy into that, and a 75mm f1.9 telephoto would be cool too, the "10" lens?

Even if I don’t use the 08 all that much, I fear that I will greatly regret it if I was to sell it. It’s a rare item. (I have the original hood too)

Why 75mm??
What was the 09 supposed to be?
A 45-135mm would have continued the 3x series.

I've found that with adapted lenses on the Q 75mm is the "sweet spot", hand-holdable and giving significantly more reach than the 06 in about the same size factor. I've got several 50mm, 70mm, 75mm, 100mm c mount lenses and the longer ones run into diffraction issues as well as being hard to handhold. My Cosmicar 75mm f1.9 is great: sharp and fast and even makes sunstars!:

...it would be even better to have one with modern ED glass.

A 45-135 zoom would be cool but also much larger; I think Pentax's idea was that the Q lenses would remain small and light.

The 09 was actually built and tested—a 25mm f2.8 macro.

Here are three Cosmicar lenses with the 06 to give an idea of scale:

25mm f1.4, Pentax 06, 50mm f1.4, 75mm f1.9

Lots of possibilities, note that the 50mm is about the same size as the 06 but two stops faster!

I've been auditioning several lenses with my Q-7 to make a lighter kit for birding walks with my wife.
Today a bird sat on our street sign for awhile, so I tried all of them.
One was an old k-mount "A" 35-105mm while another was an old fd-mount 70-200. Each of them gave "purple-fringing", in addition to providing manual focusing issues.
I have an AdaptAll 35-80mm I didn't try. I have to admit I never thought of trying something even smaller and lighter.
I thought diffraction was a result of aperture - not of focal length, and I already know I can handle the weight of the Q-7 plus one of these lenses.

Yes, I've noticed that the Q is merciless when it comes to seeing the flaws in older FF lenses.

Diffraction on the Qs usually starts around f4, although it is usable up to f5.6, making telephoto lenses limited to a stop or two unless they are fast, therefore big and heavy. Focusing a 75mm @ f1.9 with focus peaking is doable but it takes practice, and a heavily-damped focus ring is no fun at all.

If you can find a quality C-mount lens like Nikkor or Kern-Pallard or Canon cine lenses they are really exceptional, but they cost a fortune.

When I first got my Q-7, I tried it with all the 300mm lenses I could find, including a Takumar {since then I sold off several those lenses - including the Takumar - at a ‘big’ loss} using a paper target in the back yard. I got the best results using a Sigma 70-300mm lens at around f/5.6. I did use a walking stick / monopod, attached to the adapter, to steady the camera. After I got a KP, I stopped using that combination, but weight has now become important to me, so I’ll re-examine those options. As a result of this discussion, I’ve discovered that the Sigma lens weighs 630g with a generic adapter - just more than the “A” 35-105 lens weighs without an adapter, so perhaps I should try it again.

But, back to the subject of this thread, their new strategy does provide a way for Pentax to view certain components like the 08 lens, if the pieces needed are still available {I’ve heard that the corporation “Copal” went out of business, for example}, but I wouldn’t expect them to do the engineering to develop a 75mm or a 100-300mm Q-mount lens no matter how nice it would be for me to have one.
