Yeah, I am a lot more interested in using the 28mm and 50mm lenses, to supplement the '06 lens when f/2.8 isn't quite enough ....
but Metabones has to do their part first!! I had been interested in other products from them, but this is quickly turning into a negative sales inspiration with me!!!

I can order, but cannot get

Today I received my regular email from B&H.
I do not blame them, but I am increasingly unimpressed by Metabones.

I cry. I even managed to get my hands on a cheap K 50 / 1.2 that would be fun to try with this.

They would need a certain number of placed orders from B&H (say 10).
How many of us have bid so far?

Don't worry, I believe that lens will actually cover a full 24 x 36 mm frame!

You are even more ambitious than I am.
I been planning to use a Takumar 50mm f/1.4
..... but it won’t happen unless Metabones gets around to making one!!

Q666 doen't have a Leaf Shutter to allow 30 sec. Exposures

Mail sent to GBI ltd. 12 October, 2017 5:07 pm

Hi All at metabones !

My question is about the Q666 Adapter for Pentax Q, Q7, Q10, Qs1 :
does the Q666 have a - Leaf Shutter inside it ?

If this Q666 does have a - Leaf Shutter inside it, it's Very interesting for Astro :
my ~5600 mm F5 (~$200 1000 mm Newtonian) becomes a ~2800 mm F/2.5 !
allowing me to bypass the Sensor 30 sec. limitation by getting 4 times the light.
( I strongly hope so... )

If it doen't have a Leaf Shutter, the limitation is worse, it is down to 2 sec.,
making the Q666 of No interest at all for AstroPhoto. ! Here is why:
Pentax Q-S1 Review - Specifications | PentaxForums.com Reviews
see Shutter Speeds section ->

Many Thanks for your answer...

This adapter, like most of them, has neither a shutter, nor automatic aperture control, nor auto focus, unfortunately,
Frankly, looking at the price of the 01 lens, I believe the Pentax adapter, which has a shutter - but doesn't pass through focus or aperture signals - is over-priced, but I bought one anyway.
I am not sure that was a wise purchase.

Q666 could Simulate a Leaf Shutter up to 30 sec. Exposures...

As long as the Pentax Q could reach the 30 sec. Long Exposures in Electronic Shutter Mode...
... I think an Adapter could Simulate a Leaf Shutter without including one !
It just have to reply to the Q Body with the appropriate Signal...
= Through the Q Mount Electronic Contacts :
- Ok, Leaf Shutter Opened
- Ok, Leaf Shutter Closed

That may be a Very Interesting DIY Experiment...

I think from Q Mount to K Lenses, neither Autofocus nor Aperture Signals are Fully Compatible ?

For that price... at least, the Tripod Mount could have been included !

Looking what is available to mount Canon lenses on Sony bodies, I'm sure mounting K lenses on Q bodies could be done while maintaining all functionality of the K lens,
but I would be happy now if Metabones would deliver what they have already promised and promised.

AFAIK, based on tracking their website, they have never promised a K to Q Speedbooster.

Their web-site did mention plans to release a K-to-Q Speedbooster,
and they must have done something for Adorama and B&H to both list it for a while on their web-sites.

I didn't see that, but it seems weaker than when Ricoh put the 09 Telephoto Macro on the roadmap.

The K to Q Speedbooster never appeared in the Metabones catalog: Metabones®

Indeed! I wasn't sure if I would like it any better than the M 50/1.7 at first, but they're very different and I feel like they both have a place.

The K-to-Q Speedbooster may never have appeared in the Metabones catalog,
but they did do something to get this thread started, and building this was certainly in their original plans
" Planned lens mounts for the Speed Booster Q666 include a Pentax-K version and a Nikon F/G version with the most advanced Nikon G aperture adjustment mechanism in the industry."
