Thanks for linking to that press release.

The single phrase "a Pentax-K version and" does look very threadbare against the full specs of the Nikon version.

The thread started with the following comment:

"If enough people order this one,
Metabones may be motivated to actually produce it."

We should not be complaining about Metabones not delivering
if the B&H rep cannot convince them that they will have enough orders.

We still do not know why both Adorama and B&H listed one for a few days.
Metabones must have done something to cause that.

Metabones could be trying to find out how much demand there is.
If that is the case, nothing will happen unless a number of us place orders now with B&H.

.
I love my 3 Metabones Speed Boosters. They all adapt my many Nikkor lenses to my MFT cameras.

The images are super sharp, and (for example) my 50mm f/1.2 Nikkor turns into a 40mm f/0.80 "super-bokeh/super-low-light" beast.

While I have no intention of buying the new K to Q Speed Booster, I expect that your Pentax lenses will really shine with it on your Pentax Q cameras!

I consider it to be an unfair tactic to play with my hopes that way.
If they had posted a message here, I would have responded, but I may never purchase a Metabones adapter if they don't deliver this device now.

Perhaps you should have said "would".
I am coming to have little hope of ever having one.

Will you buy any more new Pentax products, after Ricoh teased us far worse with the 09 Telephoto Macro?

My Q-7 came with 02 and 06 lenses.
I purchased a 01 lens immediately.
I never intended to purchase any other Q-7 lenses, and the 09 didn't appeal to me, so I just ignored further mention of it.

The #08 belongs in every Q collection.

Thanks,

That might be true but (a) they are almost as rare as unicorn's droppings and (b) they are pretty expensive (especially as most come from Japan and I'd have to pay postage + handling fee + 20% VAT). I'm keeping my eye out for that elusive bargain, but my hopes aren't high.

My Q-7 is approximately 'crop 3' when compared to "APS-C" cameras - in other words, my '01 and '06 are roughly equivalent to 15mm to 135mm lenses on my "APS-C" K-mount cameras; looking at my usage patterns, I have greater need for more telephoto range than for more ultra-wide range {the 'road-map showed the 09 as a subset of the 06 range} .

Ah, but the 18 will break those "usage patterns". It's a whole 'nother world . Artistically, are usage patterns even desirable? I'll have to ponder that. More telephoto range is almost free with the Q. So I'm guessing you mean autofocus capability. I think Pentax should have offered a 200 -500 equiv lens or even better updated the Q-PK adapter to AF.

Thanks,
barondla

I already used my Sigma 70-300 with my Q-7, but, yes, I am referring to AF usage only. I would have no needs at all if Pentax’s adapter carried signals across - but it doesn’t, so my old Pentax 55-300 is of no real value either. In fact, I really don’t see any value at all to Pentax’s product compared to other adapters - at least, the Metabones adapter would have at least concentrated the light, giving me another f-stop.

The latest message from B&H: "still out of stock".
Why am I not surprised?

Just another "baiting" tactic?
