My Wife Got a Camera so I Might Need One. Thinking about a Q

Well , my wife picked up a new to her pocket camera so I was thinking I might need one also. I am not a great photographer by any means but I have been Browsing the local used market and noticed a guy selling 2 Q7's. One is black with standard kit lens and advertised as never used but opened box. Asking $195 CND or $147.00 US. The other camera is a yellow Q7 used for $225CDN or $169 US. He won't budge on price.
Are these prices reasonable? Any good for all purpose kind of pictures eg: family, camping, some wildlife and tourist kind of stuff? Any chance these cameras could be fakes? One thing I noticed is that it is next to impossible to find lenses for this camera here in Canada. Otherwise I am looking at a Micro 4/3 system. Or like my wife a compact zoom system.
Thanks

The Q7 is a great little camera, and the Q system is fun. The 08 Wide Zoom and 06 Telephoto Zoom are outstanding lenses. The 01 Standard Prime is no slouch either.

With a K-mount adaptor it is the cheapest ticket to ultra-telephoto photography you can get.

Do it!

Both are excellent prices (assuming the yellow Q7 also comes with the kit lens).

I owned both the yellow and the black Q7 - I wanted 2 for a project (which never materialized) - and wound up selling the black one.

Yellow just seems more fun.

Good prices, and great fun cameras for general purpose use! I'd snap one up as a spare at that price if I could.

Good prices. I am not surprised that they are firm. The only possible drawback I can see is that your wife will probably fancy the yellow one as a fashion accessory.

I have two yellow Q7 bodies. When I bought each they were priced lower than the available black one.

Those are good prices. If you are getting in the q-system, be aware that there have not been signes that this is getting future updates for a couple of years now. So if you are fine with the equipment on the market have fun with it, if you miss something or this is a starting point to a "big collection" I would skip the q-system and look for something under active development.

The Q isn't much if any smaller than some of the m43 gear and realistically neither system is very pocketable (big jacket pocket works with a small lens). I'd also suggest looking at the Panasonic gx-1 and a 12-32 lens just to compare. The q lenses are faster but the sensor is smaller and less light sensitive. Anything you get will be fun.

I would however suggest you get another lens if you intend to carry the Q in your jacket pocket, otherwise the standard zoom is quite good but too large. The no.1, 3, and 4 (about 50mm, FE, and 35mm, FF equivalent) are quite small. Also I suggest an optical finder. Something in the 28 to 35mm range (FF equivalent values).

The fisheye lens is quite nice, and while I have a number of lenses (five) for the Q, the fisheye (no.3) and 35mm toy lens (no.4) are essentially all I use. It is alway in my book bag, often in my sports jacket, and my choice when backpacking or canoeing and want to lighten my load.
