Q Sun Shade

Has anybody found something that will shade the Q series screens that will make them readable in sunlight, with or without a magnifier.

They are lovely and very capable cameras but the inability to read the screen in bright light is driving me further round the bend than I am already

Regards

I found these help and it is not much trouble to keep one fitted. They are available from several suppliers.

JJC Black 3 Inch Pop Up Camera LCD Hood for Canon Nikon Sony Pentax Olympus Fuji | eBay

They are not as good as the big loupes but it is a trade off in size.

I have been using a "clearviewer" now for many years. Turns the little Q camera into a mini DSLR. You bring the camera up to your eye, your hand will block the top from sun, or you can wear a ball hat.
I have one on my Pentax K-01, Canon M100 and my Olympus TG-6 also. The glass is of very good quality and have no scratches.

I used to use a LCD hood with a lens that my kids bought me in Japan,

but I eventually lost it and bought ClearViewer.

The LCD hood was really great as all ambient light is blocked while that's not the case for ClearViewer. Also, using hand for blocking the light interferes with my physical movement when using bigger lenses/telescopes hand-held because usually my left hand is supporting the weight of the lens and adjusting the focus at the same time while my right hand is adjusting shutter speed and pressing shutter button.

But the hood is bulky, ClearViewer is not, and that's one truly GREAT advantage of ClearViewer especially for native lenses IMHO.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction, I think I'll go for an LCD hood, preferably one that collapses, I think I'll pass on the spam can though it brings back war time memories.

I've used an anti-reflective screen protector designed for a mobile phone - just had to cut to size (I've not found one of the right size). It makes a big difference.

I think he might have glued it to the screen? Not keen on that bit.

I just bought one of these and it works pretty good. I was looking at those Hoodman things on eBay a few months ago but never bought it because it was a bit pricy and discontinued. Then this thing popped up in an ad so I picked one up. It attaches to the tripod mount with a base plate.
