Pentax Q with Canon CL lens?

Anyone attempted adapting a CL lens to Pentax Q family?
Annoyingly, aperture is electronically controlled. The electronic zoom can be ignored and manually adjusted, focus can be manual too.
Could be nice glass to reuse as the sensor size of the Q is comparable to the original Canon SD video camera it was designed for.

Canon vidéo Objectif Zoom 15X AF Macro Zoom CL 8-120 mm 8-120 mm 1:1. 4-2.1

That’s a huge zoom range and fast too.

It appears that the diaphragm is controlled electronically so it will require a lot of work to convert this lens to Q mount. You will find some info here, including this picture labelled in Russian of the lens adapted to a video camera with an 1/1.8" sensor:

Also, this lens was designed to be used on a hi8 video camera. The definition of these video cameras was relatively poor (400 lines) so the lens will almost certainly be disappointing if used on a 12MP sensor (3000 pixels vertically) for still pictures.

Cheers!

Yes Abbazz, could be soft. It is curious to me that the glass used was so big for such a small sensor video camera! Except the massive zoom range and relatively wide aperture probably explains it.

Translated from Russian to English:

Also to manually force open the aperture seems easy thanks Zoe Metta for sharing the sercret:

Some sample video with this lens adapted to Sony a6000, (rewind to the start to see how he made his adapter)

So can reasonably expect the image circle to cover a Q or Q-S1 sensor entirely.

Worth having a go for a Q once I get hold of one of these lenses.
