Q7 moon

Tried the Q-7 with the F*300/4.5 which might be about 1400mm with the crop factor
Worst time to capture moon so ok I suppose

I need one of those little guys and the K-Q converter. I want to hang it off the A* 400/2.8 and 2X-L converter and ring the bell at between 3200mm and 4000mm FF equivalent depending on model. Run the lens at f/5.6 (f/11 with the converter) with a shutter speed of about 1/40s and see what I can get. That would be a good setup for planetary and lunar imaging.

it's a lot of fun. Q7 works rather well with my Newtonian 6in 1200mm. Remote release with 2 sec delay, at that magnification objects scoot across the fov pretty fast.

At that length anything scoots across the frame fast, especially a small frame. I've had the old MTO 1000/10 and old 2x converter infront of my K-3 giving 2000mm and things are really trucking there. Even at 800mm (A* 400/2.8 + 2X
-L) things are moving at a good clip. Even at 800mm the atmosphere becomes an issue for sharpness so I shoot a bunch and let software sort it out.

True
I'm planning a tracking mount construction effort at some stage
got some suitable bits and a workshop

software to damp atmosphere would be nice
Using movie frames is used too I think
I'm still at one good shot stage

That is why we stack deep sky object images and sort planetary ones and there only use the best.

For things like the planets that is usually what people do but I haven't done planetary imaging since gettign a K-3iii and video with the K-3 and K-3ii of the moon and planets just sucked as one couldn't give it a big enough hit how to properly expose. The later cameras like the K-1, K-3iii, and I think KP and possibly K-70 do better with this type of video recording.

Just saw this thread - wow that moon is nice.

Anyone tried using the Q7 or Q-S1 with the DA300 and also with the DA1.4 teleconverter - this would give 4.6 x 300 x 1.4 = 2000mm almost?
