Just got the Q7, and cannot open the battery compartment. Is there a tip for opening it?

It's the normal "pull back" mechanism, same as for the SD-card door, I believe.

It will not budge at all. The SD door opens easily.

Wow, finally got it open. I had to use a glove. Hope it gets easier with use.

Should be: Slide the cover towards the back of the camera and then flip open. See the manual, p. 22/23

If it won't slide, the battery may have leaked or swollen enough to jam the door.

It wasn't the battery; rather just really hard to slide the door. On my Q, the door opens much more easy. So I hope with use, this one will be easier to open.

I vaguely recall other users complaining about the battery door being very difficult to open on the Q7.
Hopefully it becomes easier with use.

Q7 battery door is more difficult than the Q. The SD card is much more easily accessible on the Q but not on Q7 (Similar to K-50 annoying to K-3 super convenient/easy) (I mean pulling out the card for copying pictures and putting it back), I have to use the cable to connect to the camera and download the pictures.

Try rubbing a candle against the battery opening. A bit of candle wax will make sliding the door easier but do not try anything like grease or oil that might migrate inside the camera.

Cheers!

I grabbet one of my Q7s and tried. I will admit that I had to use more force to pull the cover back than I expected.

I found that it isn't that the battery door is hard to open, it is that it is slippery. Try pressing down, then sliding the door back. I've put "gun grip" on my Q7s, its much easier now.

Thanks for that suggestion! I'd not heard of gun grip before, will order some.
