Genuine Q vs Q10

...is there any difference in IQ between first Q and Q10? I'm asking more on RAW-quality, JPG quality is less relevant. I'm mostly interested in DR and noise.

I did order original Q as soon as it was released but sent it back because I was not impressed. Q10 probably is the same. I believe if you are looking for better IQ and less noise you should go for Q7 or QS1. I had both. Image wise they are absolutely the same but I like Q7 body more.

From the review here on PF - "The Q10 has a new sensor with better low light performance and Pentax claims that it overall produces higher image quality than the Q. Other improvements are: Faster autofocus, longer battery life."

I have the four Q cameras (Q, Q10, Q7 and QS-1) and I can assure you that they are not the same image quality wise. The Q and the Q10 have a sensor of the same size. The Q7 and QS-1 also have a same sized sensor. But image quality on the Q10 is better than on the original Q and IQ is also better on the Q-S1 compared to the Q7. I don't know if it's only due to better in-camera image processing or if Pentax also used an upgraded sensor but he difference is visible.

Cheers!

I shoot raw and I do not see any difference between Q7 and Q-S1 in IQ. Maybe in jpeg it is a different story. It would be nice to have images comparison made with two cameras with the same lens of the same scenery and the same light conditions.

Many thanks for the answers. Is Q10 faster, more responsive, compared to the first Q?

Here are JPEG images from the Q7 and the Q-S1:

Q-S1

If you want to compare raw images, here are two raw images taken today within a few seconds with the Q7 and the Q-S1 with the 01 lens. Both images were shot in manual mode with the same settings at 100ISO. Please ignore the "Potential Security Risk" warning you might get when downloading the files:

There is less noise in the clouds on the Q-S1 image.

The same difference exists between the Q and Q10 cameras. I believe the Q and Q10 don't feature the same sensor, even though both sensors share the same size. As for the Q7 and Q-S1, they appear to have the same sensor but the newer camera benefits from better image processing.

Cheers!

Jpeg images you uploaded are too small to make any conclusion. DNG files are not accessible, alas. You are the only one who finds image quality of Q-S1 better of Q-7. The reviewer on the Pentax forum
https://www.pentaxforums.com/reviews/pentax-q-s1-review/general-image-quality.html
did not find any difference regarding IQ between them and I share this opinion.

The "RawDevelopmentProcess" tag in the EXIF information of DNG files is "9" for the Q and "11" for the Q10, suggesting changes were made to the sensor. The Q7, Q-S1, and MX-1 are all "12" which suggests they are the same sensor.
