I found this on a local "photographers" facebook

And I couldn't believe what I was reading....

QuoteQuote:
My Clients get All Photoz There's NO Photo Limit, Im Doing
- Grad = $30 (Im Booked for this Friday)
- Family = $50
- Engagements = $100, $50 if i Shoot your Wedding
- Weddings = $500
- Single PhotoShoots i wont Charge, gives me a chance to Practice.
Either way im Cheaper then Most PhotoGrapherz
Is this really what people have come to? $500 for a wedding? Last wedding I saw shot even decently was 10x that.

Oh, I thought you were refering to the horrid use of 'z' word.

I guess it depends on their name and reputation.

well yes the "z" made me laugh a little but that just seems a little ridiculous.

Him quoting $500 is the least of issues... I don't know what area he's in, but I do know in some small towns, $500 is a huge chunk of change to drop for a wedding.

That said, this line really caught my eye and made me groan:

Anyone who hires him deserves what they get.

And there is nothing ridiculous about him being forthright about his lack of professionalism, y0. W3rd up.

Wow, I'm not sure what that makes his hourly rate, but I'm pretty sure the flag men on construction sites are better paid than that. (and I've seen those guys drunk on the job).

Naw, there are still pros out there with pro prices.
This guy charges 4400 for wedding Toronto Wedding Photographer | Destination Wedding Photographer

That being said, when I do go out and spread my wings the first time around.....I may do things for free for a while. I do need the practice and portfolio. The Z guy is one step ahead of me: he is already trying to fly.

Hey this crap is everywhere. My local Kijiji (Like Craigslist) has a ton of these for $300 or less. Basically "Have digital camera I got for Christmass and now I'm a pro"

here's a recent example:

QuoteQuote:
Now booking in Queens County area for wedding photography. I charge $125.00 plus mileage. Require deposit. Have photos to show.
I wish I could show you the pic samples here. It is so bad, you'd cry.

I take my response back....if I go free, its assumed I'd be taking photos that are even lower in quality than your kijiji guy there Peter >_<. I'd cry.

At first I wondered why this person would select a sample picture that caught the bride (and dad?) with their eyes shut.......then I realized this person only does sad weddings. There is nothing wrong with a few mugshots at a shotgun wedding......

I see lots of $500 photographers on my area's Craigslist... but as said before, you get what you pay for. Still, I would guess that the clientele attracted by someone who uses a z in that fashion would likely be thrilled by their work.
