Tips for Facebook Page for Photos

Would be interested in knowing some tips on sharing pictures on Facebook. I am sure many of you have Facebook fan Page for publishing photos. I created a page but somehow Facebook seems to have its own way to publishes it. For example, if I uploaded few photos and published it, it will be shown on wall. Now if I add some more to the same album, it will not be shown into wall but will be added to previous post. May be I am missing something.

any ideas? please don't suggest flickr, or any other options - I just want to share on Facebook.

I wouldn't recommend using facebook to share anything other than family photos or party pics. You should check out other online gallery sites that will be able to deliver higher-resolution photo hosting.

Agree about resolution but except for that its a powerful medium to share pics IMO. Its easier to get more eyeballs there then speciallize gallery

I host my photos on flickr, but then have it linked to my facebook page (a LOT more people see my facebook than my flickr). So whenever I post to flickr, it's auto-published to my facebook. Now, people cannot go to my facebook page and view the albums etc that hold these images, but my uploads will be published to the newstream and on my wall (until they roll off). It's really increased the traffic to my flickr site. I only post directly to facebook family photos etc that I don't want out there for the general public (only my facebook "friends" can see my content).

At least with aperture, I've noticed that when I upload personal photos to facebook it compresses the images and all of a sudden the pictures do not look as nice as I wanted to show off...maybe that means they were not that good to begin with

I use flickr though, it's what, $25 a year or something? Unlimited bandwidth, unlimited storage, and you can upload photos in full and uncompressed so that anyone who really want's to download the photos can do so and they get the whole deal.

That's just for family photos though and I don't have fiber optics so I can't imagine how long that would take for hundreds of photos.

Anything more than 720px and your facebook images are screwed. Give it a shot by resizing upto 720px before uploading

Regarding flickr, it's not a question of money, it's question of using Facebook because that's where all my friends and family, no one will see it if it's on flickr, no matter how good looking pictures of flickr.

Moreover I was looks for some tips on maintaining facebook Page (not publishing on personal profile)

Flickr will automatically publish your uploaded images to Facebook if you tell it to. Then viewers can click on it and it takes them to your flickr site. I imagine this holds true for other photo hosting sites but this is the one that I use. I also have a separate "business" facebook attached to my regular one that I run sort of a blog of shoots and stuff, post samples, from shoots, and have a mini-portfolio, as well as a link to my "real" website, which is of course linked back to my facebook business site. And yes I have gotten business from this set up.

@Mel, not sure if you are aware of the difference between facebook page and profile. As I mentioned in my previous response too, I like to maintain Facebook page and not personal profile. Since you are insisting on flickr, please tell me how would I do tell flickr to publish to Facebook fan page - please note carefully - publishing on Facebook page NOT ON PERSONAL PROFILE.

I am sure you are aware of Facebook pages, but just in case, let me share an example of a Facebook Page

Last time I checked, FB had some pretty nasty property claims on whatever you posted. They seem to change things up regularly, so you'd want to check very carefully to make sure they can't freely use/on-sell images you post to your FB page. Linking through Flickr seems to be the way to fly.

oh come on guys, why can't we stick to the question - it's all about sharing a page on facebook, I don't want flickr and just want to stick with facebook, even if they claim all my pictures are theirs Now can we come to the point

I can only discuss and give examples of what I happen to have. It's up to you to make the extrapolation to your own situation. I'm sure if you own the Facebook PAGE, you can publish to it. Pretty much everything will auto publish to facebook. I only discuss Flicker because it's what I have, and thus know about. Why don't you look at some different hosting sites and read up on their user instructions/information and find out if they will auto-publish. With the one that I have, and thus know about, it was in the user settings. I checked a box and entered my FB login information and it was done.

I have two FB things. One is the personal one, and one is the photography one (I think I mentioned this). I had the personal one first. The other was made as an extention of it. But when I log in it takes me to my personal one. However, I can get to the photography one and edit, post, etc, but auto publishing photos from flickr goes to the personal one, because that is the one that my login is tied to. I'm guessing it auto-publishes based on login connection. It's fine with me that way as more than twice the number of people see the images than if it auto-published to the photography one.

But other than that there is really no really good way to share photos specifically on facebook as it's not designed as a tool specifically for photographers to share images. Adapt adapt adapt.
