Originally posted by GeneV I'd say it was just bad judgment on the part of an individual officer, except that it is happening all over the country. A number of colleagues ended up volunteering to bring suits for free against some officers here who were doing the same thing to people who recorded their reaction to anti-war protests.
Right in middle of it on Lindell Blvd. here once, brings back some memories.
Look back on it and having 40 odd years to forget more than reflect,
what I do remember was (not photographers) but provocateers doing just
that and police exercising poor 'judgement',and thats being polite.Wasnt
chicago, but nasty enough.Turned into a 3 way free for all when construction
workers decided to exercise first amendment rights.A matter of fact, dont
recall many photogs around at that particular time, all hell broke loose and
a whole bunch of folks scattered.
back to current...provocateer is a provocateer, this time armed with camera,
she undoutedly knew she would provoke.Bad judgment is bad judgment
and she got it.As your probably right, the end result wll be punitive reward in her favor.
Worse thing is,taxpayers have to pay for whole mess.
