On the Pentax K-7 --- Sigma 50mm f/1.4
On the Canon 5D --- 85L
On the Contax 645 -- Carl Zeiss T* Sonnar 140mm f2.8 (IF) AF

Seems I don't vary much.

Of all your equipment, what's your favorite 1 camera/lens combo and why?

K10D & Vivitar Series 1 90 Macro.

Compared to my K-7, I prefer the look of my K10's shots. And the K10's ergonomics are much better.

The Vivitar 90 is simply my favorite lens. It works for me as a close up / long normal / portrait / short telephoto. I never get tired of its combination of sharpness and smooth OOF.

And it's not just the results I get. I also enjoy the way both look and feel. So solid and substantial.

K5 + tamron 28-300, unless the very rare day of rain. Then it's the 18-135wr.

KX and K35/3.5

Phil: You really already answered for me. Alas, the K2DMD is in the Sale line to finance an LX.

Three choices for me that are pretty well perfection on a manual film camera.

1) KX and K55/1.8: I have owned this combo for almost 36 years and never get tired of it. It has been my most used combo over the years and traveled with me around the world multiple times, to all seven continents. Lots of times when I’m traveling I ditch my other lenses and just go out with this one lens.

2) KM and K35/3.5: I picked up this combo a few years back and fell in love with it from the first time I used it. It's is perfect for street photography when you need something a bit wider with a good DOF. The meter is active on the KM when the lens cap is removed, so just setup the K35/3.5 for zone focusing and you’re good to go. The K35/3.5 is also one of the all time great Pentax manual focus lenses. If you are looking for a "student" film camera and one lens, this would be what I would recommend. (Forget the K1000 and 50/2 combo)

3) K2DMD and K50/1.2: The first real high end/professional combo that Pentax had for 35mm. This is my around town experimental/artistic combo. I use this for night shooting and wide open bokeh work. A big heavy beautiful looking combo and built like a tank. Using the 50/1.2 as a normal lens on a FF film camera is Valhalla!

Phil.
