about that "high-magnification zoom"

Not a word on this to my knowledge, so it's either well kept info or it will come out very late in 2012. I saw someone on dpr waving a 25-350mm patent, but nothing more than paper on that idea, and the roadmap graphic would be way off. I was a rare one who liked the original Sigma 18-200 so a lens similar to it holds some appeal to me - but I wonder where they would put such a lens to keep the 18-135 special.

Really, what can it do to be special yet distinct: faster optics, a touch wider (17-170).. maybe an XS design? A stripped-down model a la 35/2.4 and 50/1.8, with screw drive & no WR? Perhaps it goes with the k-r Mark II as a kit lens? I just cannot find a place for it that allows the 18-135 to thrive. Maybe these things are being hammered out as we speak. My preferred lens on the roadmap is the WR wide zoom, but I could be enticed by this one!

One thing I am confident of: it's not waiting for the mythical full-frame Pentax.
Unless it really is the 25-350..?

I'd hope for something along the lines of 18-250mm to replace the now discontinued DA version.

Ditto that. None of the 28-200/250/300 lenses seem to have the same IQ from the reviews and user comments.

I often seem to fall through the cracks with tweener topics. The post was about the roadmap (Pentax news) which made me wonder (rumors) about a lens (lens). I defer to the admins to know where it fits best. Never been to this section of the site before, so thanks for the tour!
