Any word on a replacement to the Q?

...that's "any word", not "any speculation" please.

I am considering getting one later in the year. Curious if anyone's gotten wind of any talk about an update to it ... if it will even be going on and not discontinued w/o a replacement (which could be considered another reason to get one before they're gone).

The Q mount lens roadmap would suggest that the product line is to be continued with a telephoto zoom to be released sometime this year or next.

Does anyone know the image circle of the current Q lenses? I'm curious whether a Q-2 with slightly larger sensor is probable. For instance, going to 1/1.7" would turn the current normal lens into a 37mm moderate wide angle (which would actually be quite cool if the image circle is sufficient).

Named Pentax J according to its new mount (J like "Jack" after K - "King" and Q - "Queen") and not Pentax Q2: the Q mount's diameter is too small to accommodate a 1" sensor.

Is that a rumor or is this thread already in la-la land?

Anyway, the mount might be just large enough for 1" - but will it be that with SR? And then there's the question of the image circle again - the normal prime will suddenly be super wide, then.

It's not rumor. Not leak. It's joke. It's dream. It's just idea.

No, it is not. Look below: in green the contour of the current 4.55mm x 6.17mm 1/2,3" sensor (the sensitive area of the sensor only, excluding the remaining part of the sensor and the plate on which the sensor is mounted and not even mentioning the SR mechanism), in red the contour of a 8.8mm x 13.2mm 1" sensor.

Well a bigger sensor would be great I guess. But even the sensor size that Fuji uses is twice the size of Q. That should fit I guess.

My hazy memory remembers it being able to take a 1/1.6" sensor with SR.

A 1" would be wonderful, but SR seems impossible.

I wonder if the Q lenses could resolve the Toshiba Nokia 808 sensor! Could fit as its 1/1.2"

To say honest, Pentax Q2 with 1" sensor (in new body of course) + RAW + fixed lens = it could be interesting IMO...
I think that lenses of Q system can cover 1" sensor area.

I've examined JPEG of Sony RX100 - no good for me at all, but from RAW at low ISO = not bad, not bad...
