Cameras lie. It is not so much that it is easy to get a camera to lie, as it is so hard to get one to tell a truth.

specifically, i was reffering to the choice of microphone.
much like a 35mm holga plastic lens will give a different effect than a 77mm FA, so will microphone choice.
it's not justification, i'm pointing out that whether during recording or during post, an effect is an effect.
simple as that.

altering an audio signal or photograph to intentionally create a false reality is somethign different.
