Are Ricoh camera dead for good?

I've always thought Ricoh was one of the most innovative companies out there. Their menu system is still the best.
Their approach is based purely on the photographic needs, not some gimmicky "smile recognition" stuff
or a "famous" designer recycled old cr@p. But they never made any effort to promote their cameras anywhere
and they are simply unknown. Which is BTW not a good sign for Pentax.
Photokina is coming and there are tons of exciting news/rumors about pretty much everybody out there... except Ricoh.
Are their cameras dead? I would love an updated FF mirrorless camera working well with Leica M lenses!
They seemed like one company which could deliver it first... To be honest, an innovative product like that
would make much more noise outside of the remaining Pentax fan base than anything Pentax can come up with.
There are tons of advanced photographers who would kill for such a camera.
It would be a real shame if Ricoh was dead for good...

Ricoh stated they put Pentax in charge of their camera division. Many users here are expecting a k-mount module on the GXR system. I don't think Ricoh is dead.

I think we need to look abroad to actually understand what is going on with the Pentax-Ricoh partnership. The US is a deadzone for Pentax IMHO with Zombies at the helm.

The ad campaigns in Asia and Europe seem to be much better thought out and executed than they were 1-2 years ago IMHO. Many things that were on the back burner under Hoya have been brought forward with Ricoh in charge. If we can all wait until Photokina then we'll know if this is going to be an interesting marriage or another divorce.

The Big Box store strategy was just the visible part of Hoya's US marketing decision. Hoya gutted Pentax USA of its personnel as well, leaving only 50 employees and outsourcing virtually every business function to a contractor. Whatever you may think of Ned and John's stewardship, they are constrained over the short term by severely limited means to change anything.

Competence is an individual and indivisible characteristic. Fewer people does not impact it in the least.

I have said that in various ways more than once over the past few years.
