Hi Ben, quite nice story. I wonder how could camera ever survive that? Maybe the mud preserved it from water? Anyway, impressive resistance...and another adpet on "do not try this at home'

Well, it couldn't have been the dslr because it was rated for underwater survival for 15 minutes. Maybe that helps narrow down which model

Sounds like it was the WG1 but it could have been an older model. Great Story! I hope we see some advertising from Pentax USA coming out of this!

I contacted Laura Lundquist. She was told that it was a W90.

Note to self: when using a waterproof camera on a Lake, attach it to something that floats...

You'd need about 5 of those to float a WG-1

Probably not -- a little pocket of air is quite buoyant. In any case, you can dive down to the blinking light and find it...

Cool story. Social media is pretty handy and it's interesting how quickly they matched up the camera to the person.

. Yes, but it didn't hurt that we're talking about an area with very low population density.

So question is, could Pentax get any better "social media" coverage than this story spreading on the forums...

Thats a great idea for any water events. But then again it seems that you would want the floating device to be kinda bulky cause you do want to see it from afar in the water? At the same time the bulkiness might cause it to catch onto something easier and increase the chances of it falling in? Just need to come up with something that is portable and deploy once it hits the water?! :P
