Yes you are, and should be severely chastised for your choice. A seriously good camera so I have heard.

Am I evil? I am man, yes I am.
(Sorry, that question just sent me back to my long-haired metalhead days!)

I came to Pentax from a 1Ds (after a string of lesser Canons), and it was big, heavy, built like a tank, and fast (and the 1D is faster). You'll need to budget some serious coin for the lenses to take advantage of that body... but enjoy the blistering AF!

I don't really understand the philosophy behind APS-H, the body isn't smaller anyway.

As a former MkII, MkIIn and MkIII owner I can say that the MkII rocks for sports and all around PJ stuff. I really enjoyed using mine with a Sigma 70-200 2.8 and an 85 1.8. If I had the extra money and was only going to shoot day games I would not hesitate to pick one up.

It's not meant to be about the body size, it's meant to a compromise between the I.Q. and D.O.F. that a bigger sensor gives you, with the speed and buffer that a smaller sensor gives you.

I rate it - I'd be happier with a FF but if Pentax were to release an APS-H I'd be near the front of the queue. A lot of lens options make good sense on an APS-H for me too - the 24-70mm is a bit short on FF I think (I know that MANY disagree) but with APS-H I'd probably have a: 16-35mm, 24-70mm, and 70-200mm... all FF lenses I know but still a good option (equiv. 21-46mm, 32-91mm, and 91-260mm). Maybe the 70-200 doesn't quite work... I'd be really interested to see if a 50-135mm could handle the 1.3x sensor, cos that'd be perfect IMO.

The only problem with the 1 series is you may get hooked. I have a 1diii and a 1dsii and they both work without a hitch. I got a lenmar battery for the 1dsii, and it works great except the catch broke, so I took one off a canon battery to fix it. The mark 2's have a quirky menu system, but it's not hard to get used to.
Be sure you get the charger with it, as they are pricey.

that was the selling point for me.

its not going to be here until monday and im already wanting to buy the 1d classic off of keh right now for 144!
i really want to start doing sports as the desert landscape in lubbock has started to get boring for me. Paintball is something i have always loved and i have photographed in the past (with a kodak p850....quite difficult to capture action on a glorified point-and-shoot) and im thinking id be more willing to risk a 144 dollar body than a 429 dollar one. i know the Mp are small but the biggest i would ever want to print would be about the size of a magazine cover
