Best blog for photographs

Hi everybody,

I want to start a blog which would have more photos than text. Before I go to wordpress or similar, does anyone have any experience of a provider particularly suited to images?

Thanks for your help,

Wolfie.

Personally, I like Wordpress because of it's flexibility and the amount of themes out there. There are a lot of quality free photo blog themes out there.

Jux.com and Posterous.com look nice and simple, but I haven't used either.

Pixelpost is an open source (free) photoblogging app. It works good. Pixelpost

Thanks. It looks as if it's one of those two. Just discovered that I've had a Wordpress account since 2008! I must get my life in order!

Wordpress is nice. I use Blogger because of all my accounts and tools set up with Google. Blogger is also very customizable and there are a ton of resources out there for adding extras to Blogger and Wordpress blogs. I also post very few words, mostly pictures. If it wasn't for the convenience of my Google accounts I'd definitely use Wordpress.

Thanks again, looks like like case proved for Wordpress, with Blogger a worthy runner-up. Really useful info. much appreciated.

Another blogger user, here - cause I'm already google'd and because the WYSIWYG format makes it super easy to put up photo posts

My blog :)

I'm using blogger, in a basic format to let the pics and commentary speak for themselves, but I'll likely migrate over to wordpress, under some recommendations that it will provide the basis for a more professional display.

Yep. Some themes have nice gallery options built in. If you search for portfolio themes or photography themes you'll find some nice free and paid options. If you've already got a theme picked out, then Wordpress does have the build in ability to add a gallery to a page or blog post, however I personally like the NextGen gallery plugin better. It is a popular plugin, so a google search will return tutorials on how to use it.

Maybe not relevant but zenfolio offer a blogging facility on their gallery system. A friend of mine uses it pretty successfully. I think it's more of a photo gallery with a blog than, like Wordpress perhaps, a blog with a gallery; and there are no plug-ins or bells and whistles as there are with Wordpress. OTOH, the zenfolio site is perhaps easier to manage and look after and there is mabye less to set up. They do quite a bit of the background stuff for you and from a look at the user controls on my zenfolio site I think you can probably set the blog page to be the opening, home page people first see. Wordpress is a good system, though, no doubt about it. Just saying ...
